Black Hills State track and field teams had a strong showing in their last meet before the RMAC Championships next weekend at the Stinger Open Friday and Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets had another school record broken and had four provisional marks met adding
Whitney Scott to the list in the pole vault.
Breanne Fuller broke the school record in the women's 60m dash with a time of 7.71. Fuller broke her own record which she set last season of 7.75.
Whitney Scott added her name to the list of Yellow Jackets provisionally qualified with a mark of 3.70m (12' 1.5") in the pole vault. This mark was good enough for a second-place finish for Scott.
Kyla Sawvell earned provisional marks in both the shot put and the weight throw while
Hannah Hendrick also earned a provisional mark in the pole vault.
Sprints
Outside of her school record in the 60m dash
Breanne Fuller also placed first in the 200m dash with a time of 25.48.
Mikayla Tracy also earned a first-place finish as she finished the 400m dash with a time of 1:01.31. For the men
Mason Sartain brought home a second-place finish in the 200m dash and a third-place finish in the 60m dash with times of 23.30 and 7.12, respectively.
Sophie Curtis and
Conor McGraw each earned top finishes in the 60 hurdles with Curtis placing third for the women with a time of 9.77 and McGraw placing second for the men with a time of 8.51. McGraw's time also moved him to #3 overall on the top ten list for the Yellow Jackets.
Distance
Matthew Parker was the top distance finisher competing in the 5000m run Friday night taking first with a time of 15:13.65. Hadyn Grosz earned fourth in the mile with a time of 4:30.23 and
Levi Smith took fifth in the 800m run with a time of 2:00.78.
Erica Dykstra and
Jillian Brennan came across the finish line back-to-back in the women's 800m run with Dykstra placing third in 2:19.31 and Brennan placing fourth in 2:32.56.
Jumps/Vault
Hannah Hendrick and
Whitney Scott cleaned up house for the women in pole vault placing first and second respectively each with a jump of 3.70m (12' 1.5").
Ben Marowf earned fifth in the men's pole vault with a vault of 4.05m (13' 3.5").
Kendra McDonald kept things rolling in the high jump for the women earning third with a jump of 1.56m (5' 1.25"). For the men,
Reece Ullery took second in the triple jump with a jump of 13.74m (45' 1") and fifth in the long jump with a jump of 6.58m (21' 7.5") while
Mario Guerrero placed third in the triple jump with a jump of 13.65m (44' 9.5").
Throws
Kyla Sawvell earned another pair of first place finishes with a 14.26m (46' 9.5") mark in the shot put and a 19.04m (62' 5.75") mark in the weight throw.
Savannah Perez placed third in the women's weight throw with a mark of 16.98m (55' 8.5") and freshman
Jadyn Gackle place fourth in the women's shot put with a mark of 12.58m (41' 3.25"). For the men
Gevin Paas brought home a pair of top five finishes placing fourth in the shot put with a mark of 14.76m (48' 5.25") and fifth in the weight throw with a mark of 16.11m (52' 10.25").
Sully Mack earned a mark of 16.46m (54' 0") in the weight throw which earned him a fourth place finish overall.
