The Black Hills State women's basketball team defeated MSU Denver 66-54 to close out the regular season in the Donald E Young Center Saturday evening.

The Yellow Jackets (18-9, 16-5 RMAC) rounded out the season with a home sweep finishing the season with a 10-1 home record.

Danica Kocer led the team again scoring 17 points.

Ashley Davis and
Haylee Weathersby also totaled double digits on the evening with 14 points each.

On Senior Day the seniors were stout defensively as Davis would lead the team in steals with five and
Ashlee Beacom grabbed two steals and the lone BHSU block of the game.

The Yellow Jackets got off to a hot start against the Roadrunners on Senior Day going on a 15-2 run to open play in the first quarter. Senior
Ashley Davis was the first player to get on the board sinking a long three to give BHSU their first lead of the game. But it was the defensive play that highlighted the first quarter with the Yellow Jackets stealing the ball from the Roadrunners five times and pulling in 13 boards. BHSU took a ten point lead out of the quarter 19-9.

BHSU stayed hot through the second quarter racking up a 17-point lead with 2:32 to play in the half. The Roadrunners battled back to pull within 12 setting up the halftime score of 34-22 in favor of the Yellow Jackets.

Metro battled back after the half chipping away at the Yellow Jackets lead behind solid shooting. The Yellow Jackets were outshot 23-13 in the third quarter holding a narrow lead at 47-45 into the fourth quarter.

The Roadrunners tied things up at 47 to open the quarter before the Yellow Jackets retook the lead on a Kocer layup and a Davis free throw. From there the Yellow Jackets just kept tacking points on to their lead outscoring the Roadrunners 16-7 to close out the game setting up the team's 66-54 victory.

The Yellow Jackets made 17 of 52 shots they took for a 32.7 shooting percentage. BHSU made 5 of 22 3-point attempts for a 22.7 shooting percentage beyond the arc.

At the charity stripe the Yellow Jackets shot 84.4% making 27 of 32 attempts.

The Yellow Jackets advance to the RMAC Tournament for the fifth straight season. BHSU will wait to find out their final seeding and their opponent will be determined later tonight as games go final around the RMAC.
