Women's Basketball Set for RMAC Tournament Tip-Off in Pueblo

The stage is set for Black Hills State women's basketball as they are set to take on Colorado State University Pueblo Tuesday night in round one of the RMAC Tournament.
 
The Yellow Jackets (18-9, 16-5 RMAC) will tip off at 7:00 p.m. in Pueblo, Colo. Tuesday, March 1 for round one of the 2021-22 RMAC Tournament.
 
BHSU is coming off a weekend sweep defeating Colorado Christian and MSU Denver in the Young Center. Friday night the Yellow Jackets took on CCU winning 72-63 behind three double digit scorers. Danica Kocer led the team offensively with 19 points while Megan Engesser and Niki Van Wyk each scored in double figures as well. The Yellow Jackets and Cougars were close through the first two quarters of play before BHSU would take a 13-point lead in the third quarter and ride that lead to a victory.
 
Saturday the Yellow Jackets brought home a 66-54 victory against Metro State and were again led by Kocer who snagged 17 points. Ashley Davis and Haylee Weathersby each made double figures in scoring as well with 14 points apiece. The Yellow Jackets took an early lead against the Roadrunners taking a 17-point lead early in the second quarter which they would use to coast to their second victory of the season over MSU Denver.
 
CSU Pueblo closed out the season with a weekend split defeating Regis 72-57 and falling to No. 20 Colorado Mines 53-40. Friday the Thunderwolves were led in scoring by Ro Dominguez who tallied a season-high 22 points. After a slow start by both teams before CSU Pueblo was able to take a commanding lead in the third quarter ultimately defeating the Rangers 72-57.
 
Saturday CSU Pueblo faced the No. 1 seeded Orediggers closing out their season with a low scoring loss. The Pack was led by Alisha Davis who earned a double-double in the contest with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Thunderwolves closed out the season with the fourth seed in the RMAC Tournament.
 
Black Hills State and CSU Pueblo faced off one time this season with the Thunderwolves claiming a 70-56 victory over the Yellow Jackets. BHSU was led by Kocer in scoring with 12 points and freshman Haylee Weathersby who pulled in eight boards and tallied eight points on the night. The Yellow Jackets and Thunderwolves were evenly matched in that contest until the Thunderwolves went on a 9-3 run to open the second half which they would use to help them take a 70-56 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
 
BHSU and CSU Pueblo have faced off 22 times in program history with the Thunderwolves holding 16 wins compared to the Yellow Jackets six. The Yellow Jackets will look to avenge their regular season loss Tuesday night to advance to the RMAC Semi-Finals which will be played Friday at a to be determined location.
