WBB Falls to CSUP in First Home Loss of the Season

Black Hills State women's basketball fell to CSU Pueblo 70-56 in the Donald E Young Center Saturday afternoon.
 
Black Hills State (13-8, 11-4 RMAC) sit tied for fourth in the RMAC with MSU Denver and Colorado Mesa after falling to the Thunderwolves Saturday night.
 
Danica Kocer led the Yellow Jackets in scoring for the second night in a row with 12 points. Kocer also snagged two steals and a rebound throughout the contest.
 
Defensively, freshman Haylee Weathersby led the team pulling in eight boards. Weathersby also tallied eight points for BHSU.
 
The Thunderwolves got out to an early lead in the first quarter racking up eight points before the Yellow Jackets could get on the board. Raven Cournoyer was the first Yellow Jacket to record points after sinking a mid-range jumper to give BHSU it's first two points.

With 1:23 left in the first Danica Kocer gave the Yellow Jackets their first lead of the game on a three-pointer putting BHSU ahead 14-11. BHSU would carry a one-point lead into the break, up 14-13 over CSUP.
 
CSU Pueblo opened the second quarter on a 9-3 run taking a 22-17 lead over the Yellow Jackets. The Thunderwolves held onto that lead into halftime as they were up 36-31 at the break. 
 
Out of the break the Yellow Jackets were able to knock the Thunderwolves lead down to two at 38-36 before CSUP went on a 17-9 run opening a 55-45 lead over the Yellow Jackets to close out the quarter.
 
In the fourth quarter the Yellow Jackets tried to take control of the game but ultimately it was the Thunderwolves pacing the game. BHSU kept pace with CSUP throughout the quarter but were unable to take the lead being outscored 15-11 to set up the final score of 70-56.
 
BHSU shot 28.9% from the floor making 13 of 45 attempts and 26.3% from beyond the arc making 5 of 19 attempts.
 
BHSU tied their season high with 33 free throw attempts and made 25 from a 75.8 shoot percentage at the charity stripe.
