GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Black Hills State softball dropped its Sunday doubleheader to Colorado Mesa, 9-1 and 8-0.
The Yellow Jackets (10-20, 8-20 RMAC) didn't have an answer for the No. 23 team in the nation as they totaled five hits and two walks on the day.
Game One (L, 9-1)
CMU jumped ahead early, taking a 6-0 lead in the first. Then down 7-0 in the fourth, the Yellow Jackets pushed one across on an RBI single from
Crystal Amaral to make it a 7-1 ballgame.
But the Mavericks would tack on two more in the bottom of the fourth and eventually win, 9-1.
Game Two (L, 8-0)
BHSU scattered two hits in game two, including a
Lizzy Johnson single in the third and an Amaral single in the fourth.
That would be all the offense the Yellow Jackets could muster in game two as the game would end 8-0 in favor of the Mavericks.
