KEARNEY, Neb. – Black Hills State track and field added a seventh provisional mark at the Loper Invitational in Kearney, Nebraska Friday.
Whitney Scott earned a provisionally qualifying mark in the women's pole vault after clearing 3.75m (12' 3.50"). This vault earned Scott a third-place overall finish for the day for BHSU.
The Yellow Jackets had two first place finishers in Kearney as
Breanne Fuller took first in the women's 200m dash with a time of 25.33 and
Kyla Sawvell took first in the hammer throw with a mark of 54.84m (179' 11").
Sprints / Hurdles
Fuller also earned a top finish in the women's 100m dash taking second with a time of 12.21.
Mikayla Tracy took fourth overall in the 400m dash with a time of 1:00.87 for the Yellow Jackets. For the men
Mason Sartain earned two top finishes with a fifth-place finish in the 200m dash and a sixth-place finish in the 100m dash. Sartain finished the 200m dash with a time of 22.40 and the 100m dash with a time of 11.08. Coleman Chapman was the top finisher for the Yellow Jackets in the hurdles finishing in fifth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 57.22.
Relays
The Yellow Jackets had two relays as both the men and women had teams in the 4x400m relay. The women's relay took fourth place after completing the race in 4:20.29. This team was comprised of
Kendra McDonald,
Hannah Hendrick,
Breanne Fuller, and
Mikayla Tracy. Next the men took the track and were able to earn a fifth-place finish with a time of 3:35.32. Yellow Jackets competing for the men's 4x400 included
Frank Becker,
Landon Nicholson,
Chapman Coleman, and
Shane McGraw.
Distance
With half the distance athletes away in California the Yellow Jackets had a single top finisher in the distance events as
Levi Smith took third in the 3000m steeplechase. Smith completed the race in 10:19.90.
Field Events
Outside of her first-place finish in the hammer throw Sawvell also took second in the shot put with a mark of 13.96m (45' 9.75").
Hannah Hendrick earned a second-place finish in the pole vault after matching her provisional mark from last weekend vaulting 3.75m (12' 3.5").
Gevin Paas again earned a top spot in the discus with a mark of 49.28m (161' 8") and
Sully Mack earned a fifth-place finish in the javelin with a mark of 49.93m (163' 10").
