Hendrick Breaks School Record in Colorado

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Black Hills State track and field wrapped up its conference slate this weekend at the Jack Christiansen Invitational.
 
The highlight of the meet was Hannah Hendrick clearing 3.95m (12' 11.5") in the women's pole vault event breaking the school record and improving her provisional mark in the pole vault from 3.75m (12' 03.5"). This puts Hendrick tied for 19th in the nation in the pole vault.

Competition began on Friday with the men's and women's hammer throw. Kyla Sawvell was the top Yellow Jacket finisher Friday placing fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 15.29m (184' 08").
 
Competition continued Saturday with a full day of events.
 
Distance
Hayden Grosz placed third in the 5000m run with a time of 15:33.81 and was the top Yellow Jacket distance finisher. Marcos Valerio followed closely behind Grosz completing the 5000m run in fourth with a time of 15:39.09.
 
Sprints/Hurdles
Sophie Curtis brought home a pair of top finishes after placing second in both the 100 hurdles and the 400 hurdles. Curtis completed the 100 hurdles in 15.98 and the 400 hurdles in 1:07.42. Breanne Fuller also brought home two top finishes for the Yellow Jacket sprinters taking third in the 200m dash and fourth in the 100m dash. Fuller completed the 200m dash with a time of 25.17 and the 100m dash with a time of 12.29. For the men Mason Sartain was the top male sprinter placing fifth in the 200m dash. Sartain came across the finish line in 22.18.
 
Relays
The men's 4x100m relay placed first at the Jack Christiansen Invitational with a time of 45.09. Those running for the men's 4x100 included Frank Becker, Nicholas Hale, Shane McGraw, and Mason Sartain.
 
Jumps
Whitney Scott matched her provisional mark in the pole vault after vaulting 3.75m (12' 03.5"). Scott placed third overall. Kendra McDonald earned a third-place finish in the women's high jump after clearing 1.53m (5' 00.25"). Mario Guerrero was the top jumper for the men earning third place in the triple jump with a mark of 13.67m (44' 10.25"). Reece Ullery placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.60m (21' 08") and Gunner Ramsey took fourth in the high jump after clearing 1.83m (6' 00").
 
Throws
Sully Mack claimed the top finish for the Yellow Jacket throws squad after launching the javelin 53.95m (177' 00") for a second place finish. Mack also earned a personal best mark in the discus after a mark of 49.46m (162' 03"). This mark earn Mack a fith place finish at the Jack Christiansen Invite and the number four spot on the Yellow Jacket top ten list. Kyla Sawvell brought home third in the shop put after earning a mark of 14.23m (46' 08.25"). Freshman Kitrie Frank took fourth in the javelin with a throw of 31.27m (102' 07") and Reece Ullery earned fifth in the men's javelin with a throw of 43.01m (141' 01").
