Black Hills State track and field had a short outing at the YellowJacket / Battlin' Bears Open before the meet was cancelled due to weather issues in Montana.
 
The meet kicked off with the hammer throw where the Yellow Jackets had 
Kyla Sawvell place first for the women with a seasonal personal best throw of 55.04m (180' 7"). 
Savannah Perez had a career best throw with a mark of 47.35m (155' 4") and took fourth overall. Perez's mark also earned her a spot on the top ten list where she now ranks #8.
 
For the men 
Gevin Paas hit a career best hammer throw of 53.33m (175' 0") which earned him a first-place finish for the men's team. 
Anthony Rosenstrauch also hit a career best in the hammer throw with a mark of 41.66m (136' 8") which earned him an eighth-place finish. 
Conor McGraw took 19th in the shot put with a mark of 11.42m (37' 5.75").
 
Mario Guerrero earned a career best long jump of 6.24m (20' 5.75") which earned him 11th overall. Guerrero also placed 6th overall in the triple jump with a mark of 12.24m (40' 02"). 
Izak Aksamit earned a mark of 5.86m (19' 2.75") which earned him 18th.
 
The last event to wrap up prior to the meet being canceled for weather was the men's pole vault where 
Ben Marowf took fifth with a jump of 3.95m (12' 11.5").

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action in Rapid City next weekend where they will compete at the Bauer Invitational.
