Black Hills State track and field is headed South to compete in the Bauer Invitational at South Dakota Mines Friday April 8 and Saturday April 9.
 
Competition is set to kick off Friday afternoon with the women's hammer throw beginning at 3:00 p.m. The men will compete after the women's competition wraps up and hammer throw is the only event taking place Friday afternoon.
 
Things get underway at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning with the 10,000m run. before field events kick off at 10:00 a.m. with the shot put and discus.  Running events will continue Saturday at noon on a rolling schedule beginning with the 4x100 meter relay.
 
Last weekend the Yellow Jackets had competition cut short after weather cancelled the YellowJacket/Battlin' Bears Open after just fifteen events. Despite only having competitors in five events the Yellow Jackets were able to bring home two first place finishes with Kyla Sawvell earning first in the hammer throw and Gevin Paas taking first in the hammer throw for the men.
 
So far this season the Yellow Jackets have two provisional marks with Sawvell being provisionally qualified in both the hammer throw and the shot put.
