Two School Records Broken in Final Weekend of Competition for Track and Field

AZUSA, Cali. | KEARNEY, Neb. - Black Hills State track and field recorded six provisional marks and five top ten list moves in it's last weekend of competition before nationals.
 
Competition got underway for the Yellow Jackets Friday night with Erica Dykstra competing in Azusa, California in the 800m run. Dykstra ran a personal best time of 2:12.51 moving up to #3 all time on the Yellow Jacket top ten list. Saturday Dykstra took the track again to compete in the 1500m run where she again recorded a career best completing the race in 4:35.60. This time is good to move her into the #3 spot on the Yellow Jacket top ten list.
 
Keith Osowski took the track after Dykstra on Saturday in the 1500m run. Osowski zoomed around the track for his second school record of the year completing the race in 3:45.29. This time puts Osowski ranked 23rd nationally in the 1500m run.
 
Ruby Lindquist was the last Yellow Jacket on the track to compete in California. She earned a personal best time of 10:36.70 in the 3000 steeplechase. Lindquist is now #2 on the Yellow Jacket top ten list and ranked 18th nationally.
 
In Kearney Nebraska another school record was broken as Gevin Paas would best his own record in the discus with a toss of 51.61m (169' 4"). This distance also provisionally qualifies Paas for nationals May 26-28. Paas is currently ranked 28th nationally.
 
Sully Mack competed in both the discus and javelin in Kearney. Mack hit a season personal best in the javelin of 55.65m (182'7") and threw 43.59m (143'0") in the discus.
 
Hannah Hendrick and Whitney Scott looked to stay hot in the pole vault as both hit provisional marks at the UNK Twilight Open as well. Hendrick vaulted 3.80m (12' 5.5"). Currently Hendrick is ranked 26th in the nation. Scott hit a season best height of 3.90m (12' 9.5") in the pole vault. This mark moves her rank up to 32nd in the nation.

Breanne Fuller hit another provisionally qualifying time in the 100m dash of 11.83. Fuller also completed the 200m dash completing the race in 24.72. Currently Fuller is ranked 38th nationally in the 100m dash.
 
Up Next
The Yellow Jackets now have an off week to recover and prepare for nationals May 26-28. The team will find out who has qualified for the NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the coming week.
