Black Hills State Track and Field had three student athletes in four event selected to compete at the NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 26-28 as announced by the selections committee Wednesday evening.

Out of the four events selected to compete at nationals in Michigan later this month three are ranked among the top ten of all competitors.

Kyla Sawvell was selected to compete in both the shot put and hammer throw at nationals. Sawvell heads into competition ranked in the top ten of both events. With a 60.18m (197' 5") personal best this season in the hammer throw Sawvell is ranked seventh while holding the eighth spot in the shot put after recording a season best mark of 14.77m (48' 5.5") at the Air Force Twilight Open.

Keith Osowski was selected to compete in the steeplechase after earning a career best time of 8:50.02 at the Bryan Clay Invitational this season. Osowski is also ranked in the top ten in the steeplechase currently sitting seventh.

Ruby Lindquist also qualified for the steeplechase after earning a career best steeplechase time of 10:36.70 last weekend at the APU Last Chance meet shaving 9 seconds off her previous best time this season. Lindquist holds the 18th spot in the rankings for the steeplechase.

This season the Yellow Jackets had eight student-athletes provisionally qualify in 11 events for the NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Breanne Fuller qualified in the 100m dash,
Matthew Parker qualified in the 10,000m run,
Hannah Hendrick and
Whitney Scott qualified in the pole vault,
Gevin Paas qualified in the discus,
Kyla Sawvell qualified in the discus as well as the shot put and hammer throw,
Ruby Lindquist qualified for the 1500m run as well as the steeplechase, and
Keith Osowski qualified in the 1500m run as well as the steeplechase.

BHSU also saw eight school records broken and 22 moves on the Yellow Jacket top ten lists.
Nationals is a three day event running May 26-28 in Allendale, Michigan at Grand Valley State.
