The Yellow Jacket track and field teams hosted the Myrle Hanson Open at the Donald E. Young Center Fieldhouse on Saturday, with the Black Hills State athletes walking out with five first-place finishes.
MEN
Sprints/Hurdles
Mason Sartain (7.05) and
Conor McGraw (7.13) both qualified for the 60m dash finals with second and fourth place, respectively. Sartain (7.10) and McGraw (7.11) both took second and third place in the finals.
In the 200m dash, Sartain (22.91),
Shane McGraw (23.51),
Nicholas Hale (24.22), and
Frank Becker (24.47) all competed in the finals for the event and placed third, fifth, 11
th, and 13
th, in that order.
Shane McGraw (51.24),
Trinity Brady (51.48),
Braden Anderson (52.65), and Becker (53.71) all placed top ten in the 400m dash finals, with
Landon Nicholson (54.65) claiming 12
th to round out the Yellow Jacket men in that event.
Relays
Anderson, Brady, Nicholson, and Smith all competed in the men's 4x400m relay but did not finish at the event, taking fourth overall.
Jumps/Vaults
Mario Guerrero (6.20m) and
Reece Ullery (6.10m) each competed in the long jump for the men, with both Yellow Jackets placing fifth and sixth, respectively. They also represented BHSU in the triple jump, which saw Ullery (13.07m) place second and Guerrero (12.66m) taking third.
In the men's pole vault, Dawson Landeen and
Ryan Foy each took the top two spots with each athlete marking a 4.15m vault.
Throws
The shot-put finals saw
Matthew Lofaso (12.23m) and
Conor McGraw (11.98m) compete for the Yellow Jackets, with each going back-to-back in ninth and 10
th. In the weight throws,
Sully Mack (16.90m) took a second-place finish while
Anthony Rosenstrauch (12.78m) and Lofaso (11.08m) took 10
th and 13
th, respectively.
WOMEN
Sprints/Hurdles
In the preliminaries for the women's 60m dash,
Breanne Fuller (7.69) placed first to qualify for the 60m dash finals.
Abby Goeble (8.67) also ran for BHSU, placing ninth in the preliminaries. Fuller went on to place first overall in the finals, clocking out at 7.74. Her preliminary finish became a personal best 60m dash time for the senior while also breaking her own school record.
Fuller (25.92) also competed in the 200m dash finals and placed first in that event as well, sharing the top three with
Mikayla Tracy (27.04) who placed fourth.
Sophie Curtis (28.52) placed ninth while
Abby Goeble (28.74) took 11
th. Rounding out the BHSU ladies in 14
th, 15
th, and 16
th were
Kendall Tietjen (29.86),
Anna Lewis (30.36), and
Kaylee Terry (30.43).
The ladies found another top placement in the 400m dash as Tracy (1:01.49) claimed the top spot in the finals while Tietjen (1:03.86) and Terry (1:06.24) claimed fourth and fifth place.
Sophie Curtis (10.33) carried on the success for the ladies with a first-place finish in the women's 60m hurdles.
Jumps/Vaults
Erin Weibel (4.67m) was the top Yellow Jacket in the women's long jump, placing fourth in the finals while
Anna Lewis (4.39m) and
Ava Dinger (4.33m) placed seventh and eighth. Dinger (9.23m) also found a third-place finish in the triple jump event as the only Yellow Jacket to compete in the event. Weibel (3.10m) also represented BHSU in the pole vault event later in the afternoon, placing third.
Throws
Christianna Wall (13.30m) led the BHSU ladies in the women's weight throw, placing seventh in the event.
Hanah Sullivan (12.95m) placed eighth while
Makayla Friederich (12.92m) and
Kitrie Frank (12.65m) placed 10
th.

The Donald E. Young Center Fieldhouse will play host to another meet next week at the David Little Alumni Mile Open, which is slated for Friday, Jan. 20 through Saturday, Jan. 21.
