MANKATO, Minn. | CHADRON, Neb. – Black Hills State track and field has completed a busy weekend of competition at MSU Mankato and Chadron State for the Mark Shuck Open and Multi and the Don Holst Open.
Mark Shuck Open and Multi Men:
Distance
In the one-mile run,
Keith Osowski (4:23.14) completed the run to place 16
th.
Jumps/Vaults
Two Yellow Jackets participated in the pole vault in Mankato as
Ryan Foy (4.05m) placed in eighth while
Shane Karajanis (4.05m) placed in 10
th.
Men's Heptathlon
Conor McGraw and
Dawson Lindeen competed for BHSU in the men's heptathlon events, with McGraw finishing with 4,269 points while Lindeen completed the heptathlon with 3,422. In the heptathlon shot put, McGraw and Lindeen both hit career marks with their throws: McGraw threw a 12.14m shot put for a new personal best and Lindeen's 6.02m throw was a career-high for the freshman.
Mark Shuck Open and Multi Women:
Sprints/Hurdles
Breanne Fuller placed in the top five of the women's 60m dash, placing fourth in the finals after clocking a 7.75 dash. Fuller also finished third in the 200m dash after clocking in a 25.33 time.
Mikayla Tracy was the only Yellow Jacket in the 400m dash as the freshman finished with a fifth place, 1:01.93 time.
Distance
In the women's 3000m run,
Sylvia Brown (10:11.65) completed the event in second place, with her time smashing her previous personal best of 11:21.09 that she clocked at the Myrle Hanson Open in 2021.
Jumps/Vaults
Erin Weibel represented BHSU in both the pole vault and triple jump on the women's side, placing 11
th in the pole vault (3.08) and 13
th in the triple jump (9.96m).
Don Holst Open Men:
Sprints/Hurdles
In the 60m finals,
Mason Sartain placed third with a 7.17 time, just short of his best 7.05 time from this season's Myrle Hanson Open. Sartain, however, found a first-place finish at the 200m dash, clocking a 23.08 dash.
BHSU's runners for the 400m dash were
Trinity Brady (52.39) and
Landon Nicholson (55.76), who placed third and fourth, respectively. In the 800m dash,
Braden Anderson claimed the top finishing spot with a 1:59.92, which became a new low for the freshman. Brady (2:03.59) and Nicholson (2:04.10) also ran alongside Anderson and placed fifth and sixth.
Distance
BHSU had a total of six runners in the men's one mile run, with
Tim Brown (4:29.55) leading the way for the Yellow Jackets in third place.
Levi Smith (4:34.45), Reece Charest (4:40.78),
Marcos Valerio (4:40.79), and
Wyatt Ostler (4.42.76) all took fifth through eighth in order.
Hayden Grosz (4:29.30) ran unattached in the mile and landed in second with a personal best mile time.
In the 3000m run, BHSU held three placements in the event:
David Standish (9:19.81) led the Yellow Jackets in fifth,
Braik Hurm (9.20.18) landed in sixth, and
Mason Swingholm (9:30.28) rounded out BHSU in seventh.
Jumps/Vaults
Mario Guerrero jumped for the Yellow Jackets in the long jump (6.37m) and triple jump competitions (12.55m), with the sophomore landing in second place in both events.
Throws
In the men's weight throw,
Sully Mack (17.11m) led the way for BHSU once again in second place while
Anthony Rosenstrauch (13.46m) and
Matthew Lofaso (11.82m) completed their weight throws in 11
th and 14
th, respectively. Lofaso was the lone Yellow Jacket in the men's shot put as the freshman landed a 10.93m throw for 13
th.
Don Holst Open Women
Sprints/Hurdles
On the women's side of the field,
Jillian Brennan (1:03.66) and
Kendall Tietjen (1:03.83) landed in the top three of the 400m dash in second and third: both times recorded by the ladies were personal best marks for each. Brennan also competed in the 800m and once again landed a new personal best time of 2:28.99 for second place in Chadron.
Sophie Curtis and
Kendall Tietjen claimed two more top-three spots for the Yellow Jackets in the 60m hurdles as Curtis (9.83) hurdled into second place while Teitjen (10.20) claimed third. Curtis' performance marked a season-low for the junior while Teitjen's time shaved off 0.10 seconds from her previous season low booked at the David Little Alumni Mile.
Distance
Katie Turpin (5:31.89) ran into a second-place finish in the one-mile run while
Evie Boyd (5:33.93) joined her fellow Yellow Jacket in the top three in third place. Rounding out BHSU in the mile was
Madeline Hill (5:52.12), who landed in eighth.
The 3000m run was run by
Katie Turpin and
Evie Boyd for BHSU: both ladies landed in the top two spots with Turpin (11:29.2) claiming first and Boyd (11:30.0) taking second.
Throws
The women's shot put saw
Makayla Friederich (12.28m) and
Hanah Sullivan (12.06m) place in third and fourth, respectively. Sullivan (14.04m) and Friederich (13.73m) also threw in the women's weight throw, landing in seventh and ninth while
Christianna Wall (12.87m) and
Kitrie Frank (11.54m) finished 11
th and 15
th. Sullivan's throw marked a new season high for the freshman.
