COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Five members of the Black Hills State University Football team were named to the All-RMAC Second Team while 15 total Yellow Jackets received conference recognition, it was announced on Thursday morning.

Nolan Susel, Hasaan Williams, and Trey Tremblay were named Second Team All-RMAC on the offensive side of the ball for BHSU, while the team also placed a pair of players on the Second Team on special teams as Derek Webster was honored alongside Lovenski Simon.

Ten other Yellow Jackets made All-RMAC Honorable Mention, with Ryder Blair, Coleman Chapman, TJ Chukwurah, Tanner Clarkson, Nate Clay, Kellen Collier, Troy Mittelstedter, Doodles Quinones, Zecheriah Rodriguez-Brown, and Aaron Thiele each receiving recognition.

Second Team All-RMAC – Offense
Nolan Susel, Gr., RB
A threat both through the air and on the ground, Susel finished the season with 1,087 all-purpose yards for the Yellow Jackets, a number that ranks fifth in the conference and 63^rd nationally. Doing much of his damage as BHSU's lead back in the rushing game, Susel finished with 802 yards on the ground to lead the team, rank second in the RMAC, and 49^th in the nation while also adding 285 yards across 25 catches as a receiver.

Susel also possessed a nose for the endzone, finishing with 17 total touchdowns, the sixth-most in the nation and the most in the conference, while his 13 scores on the ground is also a top-20 mark nationally. He scored an average of 9.3 points per game for BHSU, pacing the league while also ranking eighth nationally.

This is the second consecutive year that Susel has been named to the All-RMAC Second Team.
 
Hasaan Williams, Sr., WR
Finishing as the team's leading receiver for the second-straight year, Williams paced the Yellow Jackets and finished within the top-50 nationally in nearly every major receiving statistic. He actually saw a slight downtick in his total receptions from a season ago, finishing with 56, but he did more damage with them, totaling 787 yards, a number that is good for fifth in the conference and 33^rd in the nation. Williams found paydirt seven times this season, all of them through the air. He finished the season ranked 11^th in the RMAC and 154^th nationally by averaging 77.9 total yards per game.

Williams' top game came in the team's home opener when he broke the program record by piling up 246 receiving yards against Chadron State, on his way to RMAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Half of his eight catches that night resulted in a touchdown, and his quartet of scores tied the program record.

This is the first time in his career that Williams has received postseason recognition from the RMAC.

Trey Tremblay, Sr., OL
The anchor of the Yellow Jackets offensive line, Tremblay was BHSU's starting center this season. Tremblay was a vital piece of an offensive line that helped the team finish 32^nd nationally in total offense, averaging 412.4 yards per game. The team's 252.8 yards per game passing ranked 23^rd in Division-II Football, while they were also a top-60 team on the ground, averaging 159.5 yards per contest.

When not paving the way for Susel and the other the BHSU running backs, Tremblay and the rest of the Black Hills State offensive line thrived in pass protection. They created enough time in the pocket to make the Yellow Jackets one of the most lethal quick strike passing attacks, averaging 15.03 yards per completion, the 15^th highest mark in the nation.

This is the second time Tremblay has received RMAC recognition after he was an RMAC Honorable Mention selection a season ago.

Second Team All-RMAC – Special Teams
Lovenski Simon, Jr., KR
On the short list for most lethal kick returners in the nation, Simon paced the RMAC and finished fifth in the nation by averaging 28.9 yards per return for BHSU and as a result, he consistently put BHSU in strong field position when he had the chance to run one back.

He is one of 59 players in DII Football to have returned a kickoff for a touchdown this season and is one of seven to do so in the RMAC.

Simon finally cracks the All-RMAC Second Team this season after being an honorable mention each of the past two years, although each of those honors were for his play as a cornerback.

Derek Webster, Jr., P
A Spearfish product, Webster has been a weapon for Black Hills State since transferring back home prior to the 2022 season. Capable of changing a game by changing the field position with any swing of his foot, Webster averaged a robust 42.1 yards per punt across 36 boots this fall, a mark that is good for fourth in the conference and would rank 16^th nationally if he qualified. 

Webster made great strides this season with the precision of his kicks, despite his average yards per punt rising but over 1.5 yards from last season, he only saw two of his punts go for a touchback. Of his 36 kicks, 14 settled inside the 20-yard line (38.9%), while he added seven boots of 50 or more yards, a total that matched his 2022 mark despite 21 fewer attempts. Webster also connected on a 32-yard field goal in his lone attempt this season.

Webster rose to All-RMAC Second Team status this season after being an honorable mention last fall.

All-RMAC Honorable Mentions
Ryder Blair, Sr., LB
A stalwart and leader for the Black Hills State defense, Blair was the team's leading tackler finishing with 73.0 total, including 46 solo takedowns, finishing top-ten in the RMAC in both categories. As versatile as he is steady, Blair added 3.0 tackles for a loss, two pass breakups, and two QB hits.

Blair was an All-RMAC Second Team selection in 2022 after also earning honorable mention recognition in 2021.
 
Coleman Chapman, So., K
Chapman knocked through 11 of his 16 field goal attempts this season for BHSU, tied for the most in the RMAC. His 68.8% conversion rate is the best among place kickers in the league who reached double-digits in field goal attempts this season. He went 30-for-36 on PATs this season and finished the season contributing 63 points for the Yellow Jackets, the second-most on the team. His 6.3 points per game ranks 95^th nationally.
 
Chapman was named both the RMAC and D2 Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending on September 24^th following a heroic showing against Colorado Mesa, connecting on all four of his field goals, among them a 48-yarder, and a game-winning 50-yard boot as time expired that proved to be his longest make of the year.

TJ Chukwurah, So., WR
A deep threat in every sense of the phrase, Chukwurah finished behind only Williams in every major receiving statistic for the Yellow Jackets this season. He nearly matched Williams' yardage total, finishing with 783 yards, doing so in just 33 receptions. Chukwurah was tied for the team-lead in touchdown receptions with seven, including a long of 98 yards against New Mexico Highlands.

Chukwurah finished in sole possession of the team lead in one major receiving statistic, that being yards per reception in which he finished with a robust 23.73 mark, good for second in all of Division-II Football.

Tanner Clarkson, Sr., QB
A transfer from Northwestern Oklahoma State, Clarkson unlocked the Yellow Jackets offense with his aggressive, yet controlled quarterback play. Unafraid to let it fly, he finished tenth in the nation and second in the league with 9.02 yards per attempt, and he owns similar rankings with his 14.86 yards per completion. Clarkson posted those numbers while limiting his mistakes, possessing a 22-to-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Also a threat to run, Clarkson finished the season with the third-most rushing yards on the squad, netting 387, while also adding four scores with his legs.

Nate Clay, Sr., OL
The second member of the BHSU offensive line to receive recognition, Clay was the team's starting left guard this season. Clay was a key piece that contributed to the successes enjoyed by Clarkson, Susel, and the rest of the Yellow Jackets offense that finished in the top-50 in total yards of offense and scoring offense.

This is the third straight season in which Clay was named an All-RMAC Honorable Mention.

Kellen Collier, So., DT
Collier enjoyed a breakout season in the middle of the Yellow Jackets defensive line. While his total tackles rose by only two from a season ago, he was significantly more disruptive, practically living in the opposition's backfield. He paced the team with 4.0 sacks and 10.5 tackles for a loss, the latter ranking sixth in the RMAC.

Collier also added four QB hits, the second-most on the team, and forced one fumble.
 
Troy Mittelstedter, Gr., OL
The third and final member of the Yellow Jacket offensive line to receive All-RMAC recognition, Mittelstedter was the team's starting right guard. Mittelstedter and the Black Hills State offense finished 48^th in the nation in scoring 30.5 points per game.

In part thanks to his protection, BHSU finished 58^th in rushing offense, 23^rd in passing offense, and 32^nd in total offense.

Doodles Quinones, Jr., S
Quinones finished third on the team in total tackles, with 52.0, including 30 of the solo variety, and 1.5 tackles for a loss. He also finished second on the team and tied for tenth in the league with six pass breakups. He opened the season by claiming RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after totaling ten tackles, six solo, and one for a loss, in addition to a pair of pass breakups, and two blocked kicks against St. Thomas.

He twice previously earned postseason recognition from the conference. He was also an All-RMAC Honorable Mention in 2021 and was an All-RMAC First Team selection last fall.

Zecheriah Rodriguez-Brown, Jr., CB
Rodriguez-Brown finished tied for fourth on the team with 47.0 total tackles, including 31 solo takedowns, the third-most on the roster. He really made his presence known in coverage, however, leading the team, ranking third in the league, and 49^th nationally with ten pass breakups. The junior added one interception, a game-clinching pick to outlast Adams State on Senior Day.

This is the second straight season Rodriguez-Brown has been named an All-RMAC Honorable Mention.

Aaron Thiele, Jr., LB
Finishing with 44.0 total tackles, including 26 solo, Thiele finished the season sixth on the roster in total takedowns. He added two pass breakups and one QB hit. Thiele hit his stride after the calendar turned to October, compiling 29 total tackles, 20 of them solo, and all 4.0 of his tackles for a loss across the team's final six games.
 
This is the third-straight season that Thiele has been honored by the RMAC. He earned All-RMAC Second Team in 2022, after being an All-RMAC Honorable Mention in 2021.
