GOLDEN, Colo. – Black Hills State track and field competed in the Colorado School of Mines Winter Classic this past weekend, with the track squads finding five collective personal best marks in Golden.
MEN
Sprints/Hurdles
In the 60m dash,
Mason Sartain found a 10
th place finish after clocking a 7.11 dash time, which was just short of his 7.05 personal best time.
Jumps/Vaults
In the men's pole vault,
Ryan Foy completed the event in sixth place thanks to his 4.32m jump that marked a season-best performance for the junior. Foy's vault also bumped him into a four-way tie for 12th place in the conference.
Mario Guerrero competed in the long jump and recorded a 6.25m long jump to place 12
th.
Reece Ullery was right behind his teammate with a 13th-place, 6.15m jump. Guerrero also represented BHSU in the men's triple jump, placing in the top five with a 13.62m triple jump that was only 0.03m off from his personal best mark in the event.
Throws
Sully Mack was once again impressive from the circle as he found second with a 17.69m weight throw in Golden.
Anthony Rosenstrauch also threw for the Yellow Jackets and recorded a 13.93m personal best weight throw to place 16
th.
In the men's shot put,
Reece Ullery threw for BHSU as he went on to place 19
th with a 12.48m toss, his distance becoming a personal best mark as well.
Matthew Lofaso also threw for the Yellow Jackets and found 26
th on an 11.25m mark.
WOMEN
Sprints/Hurdles
Freshman
Sophie Curtis again held a strong performance this weekend after recording a personal best 9.53 60m hurdles time, earning her a top-five finish in the women's finals.
Kendall Tietjen also competed in the event and placed 7
th after logging a 10.17 time.
Jumps/Vaults
Erin Weibel competed in the women's pole vault for the Yellow Jackets, placing in a tie for 13
th with a 3.06m vault.
Throws
In the women's weight throw,
Makayla Friederich found 10
th after lugging a 14.28m weight throw while
Hanah Sullivan (13.68m) and
Christianna Wall (11.81m) found 14
th and 19
th, respectively.
Makayla Friederich led the Yellow Jacket ladies in the shot put with a 12.22m throw that put her in third, while Sullivan found a new personal best mark in the women's shot put after recording a 12.20m throw to place fourth.

The Yellow Jackets head to Brookings, South Dakota for the South Dakota State Indoor Classic on Friday, Feb. 10, and will compete through Saturday, Feb. 11.
