PORTLAND, Ore. / KEARNEY, Neb. – Black Hills State track and field athletes move out once again this weekend for their final push towards the NCAA DII National Championships at the end of May.
Three Yellow Jackets will be heading to Portland, Oregon and Kearney, Nebraska for a pair of meets set to take place on Saturday, May 13.
In Portland,
Sylvia Brown and
Tim Brown are set to compete at the Portland Distance Carnival in the evening, with Sylvia competing in the women's 5K while Tim will compete at the men's 3K Steeplechase. Tim will be the first to hit the track at 7:15 p.m. PST while Silvia will compete later at 7:55 p.m. PST.
Down in Nebraska,
Sully Mack will represent BHSU at the Loper Invite on Saturday, competing in the men's javelin and discus throws which are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. CST.
Current Yellow Jacket Provisional Marks
Three Yellow Jackets currently hold NCAA DII provisional times heading into the final weeks before nationals.
Tim Brown currently holds the 28
th fastest 3K Steeplechase in the nation at 9:09.07, which he clocked at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 13.
On the women's side of the Yellow Jacket roster, distance runners
Sylvia Brown and
Xiomara Robinson both hold provisional times from their Bryan Clay Invitational 10K runs as well: Brown clocked a 35:32.14 while Robinson recorded a 36:06.14, placing them 34
th and 45
th in Division II, respectively.
