KEARNEY, Neb. / PORTLAND, ORE. – Black Hills State track and field sent three Yellow Jackets on the road this weekend to compete, with two BHSU athletes landing in the top five of their respective events on Saturday.
Sully Mack competed in the javelin throw at the Loper Twilight at the University of Nebraska – Kearney on Saturday afternoon, lugging a 50.59m spear to land fourth.
Sylvia Brown and
Tim Brown were sent to Portland, Oregon for the Portland Distance Carnival to compete on Saturday night, with Sylvia competing in the women's 5K and Tim competing in the men's 3000m Steeplechase.
In the men's Steeplechase, Tim ran a 9:05.96 that put the senior in fifth place run. That mark bumped Brown's ranking in DII from the 28
th to the 25
th best time in the nation and currently sits sixth in the RMAC.
Sylvia competed later in the night and clocked a 17:31.03 5K to land in sixth at the Portland Distance Carnival.

The track and field season comes to a close at the end of May as the NCAA DII Outdoor National Championship is slated to start on Thursday, May 25, and run through Saturday, May 27.
