Rouse and Collier Highlight Yellow Jacket All-RMAC Honors with First Team Selections

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced their selections for the 2024 First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention All-RMAC honors on Wednesday afternoon following a vote by the league's coaches. Black Hills State saw ten players represent the program and receive recognition following the completion of the season, highlighted by Jayson Rouse and Kellen Collier being named First Team All-RMAC. Second Team All-RMAC selections for BHSU included Mylic Ritche and Nicc Quinones, while Honorable Mention All-RMAC recipients included Anthony Rosenstrauch, Cameron Goods, Lovenski Simon, Luke Duby, Sebastian O'Farrell, and Zecheriah Rodriguez-Brown.

After receiving Honorable Mention All-RMAC honors a year ago in 2023, Rouse earned his first career selection as a First Team All-RMAC player in 2024. He started all 11 games at left tackle this season, helping provide protection up front for an offense that averaged 118.5 rushing yards, 219 passing yards, and 337.5 yards of total offense. The offensive line allowed only 18.0 sacks in 11 games, ranking second in the league with an average of just 1.64 sacks allowed per game, which included four games where they did not surrender a sack. Of the 18.0 sacks allowed by BHSU only 2.0 were surrendered by Rouse. On five occasions the Yellow Jackets ran for more than 100 yards, and three times reached 200 yards on the ground. Through the air BHSU passed for 200 yards or more five times, and twice recorded 300 or more yards through the air attack.

Collier is also receiving recognition as First Team All-RMAC for the first time in his career after being named Honorable Mention All-RMAC last season. He appeared in all 11 games, making ten starts on the year as he totaled 36.0 tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, eight quarterback hurries, and one fumble recovery. He recorded five or more tackles in at least three games during the year, including a season-high of eight in a Swarm Days win over Fort Lewis. Additionally, he recorded a tackle for loss in nine of the 11 games in the year and also posted a season-high of 2.5 against the Skyhawks back in September.

Ritche is receiving his first career all-conference accolade in 2024, being recognized as Second Team All-RMAC. While starting in all 11 games, he spearheaded the Yellow Jacket defensive line with 52.0 tackles, 18.0 tackles for loss, and 4.0 sacks, while also adding six quarterback hurries, four forced fumbles, three pass break-ups, and three blocked field goals. He was among the RMAC and national leaders in three stat categories as he tied for the RMAC lead and ranked fourth nationally in blocked kicks, led the conference and ranked seventh nationally with 0.36 forced fumbles per game, and ranked second in the league and tied for seventh nationally with 1.6 tackles for loss per game. In six games he tallied five or more tackles, which included a season-high of nine tackles at St. Thomas. Ritche posted a tackle for loss in ten of the 11 games this year, which included five games where he had at least two and on two occasions he notched a season-high of three against Western Colorado and Adams State.

Quinones is also receiving his first career all-conference accolade, being recognized as Second Team All-RMAC. Two of his four interceptions came in crunch time with the game on the line, as his pick at South Dakota Mines halted a drive for the Hardrockers that saw them driving down the field in an effort to set up a game-winning field goal attempt, and then his interception against Chadron State set up the game-winning touchdown drive for the Yellow Jackets in the closing minutes of the game. Quinones collected double digit tackles on two occasions, including a career-high of 12 in the win at SDM. He received one RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honor on October 28 following the CSC match-up.
