GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2024 Academic All-District® recipients for the sport of football earlier this month, recognizing the student-athletes' success on the field and in the classroom. Black Hills State University saw the max number of eight receive recognition among the prestigious program, including
Sebastian O'Farrell,
Wes Koenig,
Elijah Moscinski,
Cameron Reiman,
Anthony Rosenstrauch,
Beto Ledezma,
Cooper Brown and
Kelby Olson. The trio of O'Farrell, Rosenstrauch, and Brown have been selected to advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced January 28, 2025.
O'Farrell, who received Honorable Mention All-RMAC honors this season while starting all 11 games during the year, led the Yellow Jacket linebacker crew and was second on the team with 65.0 tackles. Additionally, he added 6.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two pass break-ups and one quarterback hurry. He ranked 13
th in the RMAC with 6.0 tackles per game. On six occasions he recorded five or more tackles, including tying his career-high of nine tackles on three different occasions against South Dakota Mines, No. 8/10 Western Colorado, and Adams State. He also recorded a season-high of two tackles for loss against the Mountaineers. In the classroom O'Farrell has accumulated a 4.00 GPA as a psychology major and has earned academic recognition during the course of his career such as being the RMAC's male recipient of the NCAA Division II 50
th Anniversary Scholarship in May of 2024, was a 2023 and 2024 RMAC Academic Honor Roll honoree, and a 2024 First Team Academic All-RMAC selection.
Koenig appeared in all 11 games at linebacker for the Yellow Jackets as he tallied 15 tackles and one fumble recovery in 2024. He posted a career-high of four tackles twice on the year, doing so against Fort Lewis and No. 8/10 Western Colorado. Additionally, he recorded the first fumble recovery of his career as he fell on a loose ball in the Swarm Days match-up with the Skyhawks. In the classroom Koenig is a now 3-time RMAC Academic Honor Roll selection (2022, 2023, and 2024) as he has accumulated a 3.81 GPA as a history major.
Moscinski started and appeared in ten games on the offensive line for the Yellow Jackets this past season. He provided protection up front for an offense that averaged 118.5 rushing yards, 219 passing yards, and 337.5 yards of total offense. The offensive line allowed only 18.0 sacks total in 2024, ranking second in the league with an average of just 1.64 sacks allowed per game, which included four games where they did not surrender a sack. On five occasions the Yellow Jackets ran for more than 100 yards, and three times reached 200 yards on the ground. Through the air BHSU passed for 200 yards or more five times and twice recorded 300 or more yards through the air attack. In the classroom Moscinski has accumulated a 4.00 GPA as an undergraduate and a 4.00 GPA as a graduate student, while majoring in applied management.

Rosenstrauch has already earned Honorable Mention All-RMAC and RMAC Academic Honor Roll accolades in 2024 and he now adds his second career CSC Academic All-District® selection. Appearing in all 11 games during the season he was the long snapper for the special team's unit that went 32-of-34 on extra point attempts, 7-of-14 on field goal attempts, and 64 punts that averaged 39.2 yards per punt. The field goal unit tacked on two of the longest field goals in program history this season as they connected from 55 and 58 yards out this year, and the punt unit pinned 16 inside the 20-yard line and recorded nine punts of 50 or more yards. In the classroom Rosenstrauch has accumulated a 3.75 GPA as an undergraduate student and a 3.76 GPA as a graduate student while majoring in Biology & Chemistry.
Ledezma appeared in all 11 games as a defensive back for the Yellow Jackets this past season, recording nine tackles, one pass break-up, and one forced fumble. He tallied one tackle in eight of this year's 11 games, including posting a career-high of two tackles against Fort Lewis. Also, against the Skyhawks he notched one pass break-up, while his lone forced fumble of the season came at Colorado Mesa. In the classroom Ledezma has accumulated a 3.74 GPA as an exercise science major.
Brown started all 11 games for the Yellow Jackets as a defensive lineman in 2024, totaling 36.0 tackles, 8.5 tackles-for-loss, a team-leading 4.5 sacks, 12 quarterback hurries, two pass break-ups and two forced fumbles. The Gilbert, Arizona, native posted five or more tackles in four games, including a season-high of six at St. Thomas. Additionally, he recorded a tackle-for-loss in six contests and a sack in four match-ups, tallying season-high of 2.5 TFLs against Chadron State and a career-high of 1.5 sacks at UST. In the classroom, the 2-time RMAC Academic Honor Roll selection (2023 & 2024), has accumulated a 3.63 GPA as a business administration & human resources major.
Olson appeared in all 11 games while making eight starts at wide receiver in 2024, making 30 receptions for a total of 335 yards and three touchdowns. He caught a career-high five receptions on two occasions and tallied a career-best 89 receiving yards in a match-up with No. 4/7 Colorado School of Mines. Of his 30 receptions, four went for 20 or more yards, including a career-long of 45 yards in the season finale against New Mexico Highlands. Also, in the victory over the Cowboys to close out the season, he recorded a blocked punt that resulted in a safety to give BHSU a two possession lead entering the fourth quarter. In the classroom Olson has accumulated a 3.56 GPA as a professional accountancy major.
School's athletic communication staffs are allowed to nominate up to eight student-athletes for a spot on the CSC Academic All-District® list. To be eligible individuals must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50 in their academic career and compete in 90 percent of the institution's matches played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's matches.
