  • Against the Mavericks, the Yellow Jacket offense produced a season-best 38 points, 449 yards of total offense, and 136 rushing yards.
  • Earlier this season senior linebacker, Sebastian O'Farrell was announced as a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, otherwise known as the "Academic Heisman" for his work in the classroom and on the field.
  • The Yellow Jacket's two non-conference opponents are a combined 11-6 this season as Sioux Falls is 6-3 and No. 23/-- Grand Valley State is 5-3. Overall, eight of the Yellow Jackets 11 opponents this year have winning records and five of them already have six or more victories to secure winning seasons.
  • The Yellow Jackets finished tied for fifth in the RMAC a year ago and were predicted to finish tied for fifth in the standings in 2025. They currently sit alone in ninth place in the league standings.
  • While they will not be able to extend the streak this year, Black Hills State is coming off their third consecutive winning season in 2024, the longest stretch for the program in their NCAA Division II era (2011-present) and marking the longest stretch since they posted six straight from 2005-10.
  • Returning starting quarterback Luke Duby has completed 177-of-269 passing attempts for 1,824 yards, 16 touchdowns, and eight interceptions this season. Against GVSU he completed 38-of-51 passing attempts for 359 yards and three touchdowns, setting new career-best marks for completions, attempts, yards, and touchdowns. After 313 yards through the air against CMU last weekend, he has notched nine career 200-yard passing games and three 300-yard passing games in his career. Additionally, it was his third game of the season with three or more passing touchdown, and the second consecutive outing with no interceptions. Nationally he is 12th in NCAA Division II with 22.13 completions per game and is 17th with a 0.658 completion percentage.
  • The pair of Cameron Goods and Danny Davis shined in the rushing attack against the Mavericks, leading the team to a season-high 136 net rushing yards in the contest. The duo has recorded 415 and 273 yards on the ground respectively. Davis has found the end zone four times while rushing the ball, and adds another two receiving touchdowns, while Goods has found the end zone twice this season. Davis has notched three multi-touchdown games this year, rushing for two touchdowns against No. 9/9 CSU Pueblo, while also recording a rushing and receiving touchdown against both Chadron State and Fort Lewis.
  • Black Hills State has shown the importance of TJ Chukwurah's return at the wide receiver position as he notched three straight 100-yard receiving games to begin the year and has added two within the last three outings against No. 5/6 Western Colorado and Colorado Mesa. He remains tied for fourth in all divisions of NCAA football (FBS, FCS, DII, and DIII) with 14 receiving touchdowns and is first in NCAA Division II. Against GVSU he set career-bests of 12 receptions and 182 receiving yards, while the three receiving touchdowns matched a career-high. He is the only player in the school's DII history to have multiple three receiving touchdown games, having done so now three times. This year he has tallied 56 receptions for 868 yards, and 14 touchdowns. He also ranks third in DII in receiving yards, is sixth in receiving yards per game (96.4), and is 14th in receptions per game (6.22). Through the first five games of the year, he broke the Black Hills State DII era record for receiving touchdowns, breaking his own record of eight set in 2023. In his last outing against CMU his 142 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns brought him to 2,115 receiving yards and 26 receiving touchdowns in his career.
  • A young offensive line, anchored by redshirt senior and 2024 First Team All-RMAC selection, Jayson Rouse, has not allowed a sack by the opponent three times this season, doing so against Sioux Falls, South Dakota Mines, and Colorado Mesa. The game against the Mavericks marked the seventh time since the start of the 2024 season that the Yellow Jacket o-line has not surrendered a sack in a game.
  • While the defensive line continues to be spearheaded by returners with Kellen Collier, a 2024 First Team All-RMAC selection, and Cooper Brown, the 2022 RMAC Defensive Freshman of the Year, both Isaiah Morales and Hershel Craig III have also made an impact. Collier currently has 48.0 total tackles, 6.5 tackles-for-loss, and five quarterback hurries. Morales adds 6.0 tackles-for-loss and 4.0 sacks in addition to 20.0 total tackles on the year. • Mason Crosby has played a key role on special teams, averaging 38.1 yards per punt, booting five over 50 yards, and pinning four inside the 20-yard line. Furthermore, of his four punts inside the 20-yard line, three of those have pinned the opposing offenses starting position inside their own 5-yard line. Against Chadron State he recorded a 73-yard punt, the 15th-longest in NCAA Division II this season, and pinned a pair of punts inside the 5-yard line, en route to being named the RMAC Special Teams Player of the Week.
  • Bryce Coulson has been among the top return men in the country, totaling a combined 520 return yards on kickoffs and punts, leading the RMAC and ranking 18th in the nation. Additionally, he is one of just three players in the conference to take a kickoff back for a touchdown, doing so on the road against Grand Valley State.
