BHSU Dominate Eagles in a 49-point Win in the RMAC Home Opener

SPEARFISH, S.D. –  The Yellow Jackets took a 30-3 run and turned it into the biggest RMAC win in program history. The Green and Gold outscored Chadron 83-34 for a 49-point margin of victory. The Yellow Jackets had a 51-10 lead going into halftime and just never took off the break as they destroy the five-game losing streak they had going into this game. The Yellow Jackets had four players reach double-digits for the first time this season, including Maureen Ulrich, who had a season-high 12 points as a starter tonight.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • BHSU scored within the first few seconds of the game when Maureen Ulrich took the opening tip directly to the hoop for an easy layup. They then took the early 7-2 lead on an Addison Branscum three pointer. Stoebner went on a 4-0 run to make it 13-5 before CSC hit a three to cut the lead to five at 13-8. That's when BHSU turned on the jets and went on a 13-0 run to end the quarter. This included five points from Maureen Ulrich and a flurry of threes from Bradie Schlabs, Branscum, Cooper, and Ulrich. This gave them a 28-8 lead going into the second quarter.
  • The Yellow Jackets held Chadron State to two points in the second quarter and scored 23 in their as well. BHSU was getting a lot of work from Branscum and Stoebner, while Brinlee McRae had two good layups in the quarter and Tess Rule, Taylin Serlen, and Alli Glasscock all contributed as well giving BHSU a 51-10 lead heading into halftime.
  • The Yellow Jacket leaders are Addie Branscum with 10 points and 4 rebounds, Norville also has three rebounds. Schlabs has eight points, three rebounds, and three assists. Ulrich also has ten points, and Sawyer Stoebner has six points and three steals.
  • BHSU started off the second half on a 5-2 run to make it 56-12 before CSC hit a three. The Yellow Jackets then ended the third quarter on a 15-3 run that included four free throws from Brinlee McRae and two layups from Sawyer Stoebner. BHSU took a 71-18 lead going into the fourth quarter
  • The Green and Gold started the second half on a 8-2 run that included four points from Serlin and a layup by freshman Jozie Dana. That made the score 79-20 before CSC went on a 13-4 run to end the game and get back within 50 as BHSU took the win 83-34.
