Laci Peskey Pitches Complete Game Shutout to Give Black Hills State Doubleheader Split

MINOT, N.D. – Black Hills State (2-2) splits with Minot State (2-2) as Laci Peskey once again put on a show and threw and complete game shutout in the second game to help BHSU win game two 2-1. Minot came back after losing the lead late to win game one 6-3. Black Hills State moves to 2-2, while Minot State also goes to 2-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
•    Minot State got on the board first in the bottom of the second when Malaya Coleman allowed three straight walks to score one and keep the bases full. She was replaced by Caitlyn Hoff, who allowed a single that scored another run, before getting a strikeout and a popout to end the inning at 2-0 Minot State
•    After getting only two hits in the first four innings, Black Hills State's offense came alive in the fifth inning, when Hoff doubled to leadoff the inning and was advanced home after two straight singles from Audrey Fouras and Carli Maley to make the score 2-1. Taylor Dowden grounded out to move Fouras and Maley to second and third base, before Lily Simmons hit a two-out RBI single to score both runners and give BHSU their first lead at 3-2
•    After no runs were scored in the next two half innings, Hoff walked two batters and allowed a double to load the bases with no outs in the bottom of the sixth. Minot State's Sara VanWickler hit a single to score the runners on second and third, which gave the Beavers the lead back at 4-3. Abby Lohse hit a bunt single to advance the runners to second and third before Anna LaCounte and Sarah Misner each hit RBI singles to give Minot State a 6-3 lead that would then hold until the end of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
•    Laci Peskey was dominant again pitching seven innings of two-hit ball with seven strikeouts to lead Black Hills State to victory. She only had one walk and one hit by pitch in the game, and now advances to 2-0 with two complete games and only one run allowed. It was her third complete game shutout of her career with her last being versus Chadron State last season.
•    This game was 0-0 all the way up until the top of the sixth inning when Desi Hernandez and Ashlynn Pauwels each hit singles to put a runner on first and third with one out for Audrey Fouras, who hit a sacrifice fly to score Andria Fitch, who pinch ran for Hernandez and give BHSU a 1-0 lead. 
•    Peskey would go 1-2-3 in the sixth and seventh innings to give BHSU a huge win over Minot State.
