LA VERNE, Calif. – The Black Hills State University track & field teams were once again in action in The Golden State, competing at three different collegiate meets in the Los Angeles area on Thursday afternoon. Highlighting the day was a career-best 10,000m run time for
Turner Christians in the ULV Leopard Invitational as he was one of three top-25 finishes during the day for the Yellow Jackets, while additionally,
Braden Anderson was less than a second from re-breaking his school record in the 800m run.
HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT BRYAN CLAY INVITATIONAL
- Braden Anderson came within just 0.73 seconds of his school record and career-best time in the 800m run, clocking a time of 1:50.69 for 67th place. In a field of 132 athletes, he bested 44 NCAA Division I runners.
HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT ULV LEOPARD INVITATIONAL
- Running a career-best time of 31:36.87 and just narrowly missing a spot on the all-time top-10 list in the 10,000m run was Turner Christians as he earned a top-20 finish of 19th place in the event.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT PACIFIC COAST INVITATIONAL
- In the 400m hurdles, Kendall Tietjen turned in a top-25 finish as she recorded a time of 1:04.13 in the event for 22nd place. Her time in the event was faster than eight NCAA Division I athletes on the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT ULV LEOPARD INVITATIONAL
- In the 10,000m run, Abigail Robberson ran to a top-20 finish, crossing the finish line in a time of 39:28.12.

Friday, April 18, will be another busy day of competition for the Black Hills State track & field programs as the Yellow Jackets will be competing at four meets during the day. The majority of the team will be in action beginning at 8 a.m. in Rapid City at the Bauer Open at O'Harra Stadium. The mid-distance and distance crews will also continue their trip to the west coast as
Jonah Rigg and
Katelyn Krieger will compete in the 1,500m run at the Bryan Clay Invitational,
Kendall Tietjen will compete in the 400m hurdles at the Mt. SAC Relays, and
Jaxon Straus,
Evie Boyd, and
Emma Hofmeister will compete in the 5,000m run at the ULV Leopard Invitational.
