DURANGO, COLO-Â For the first time since 2019, the Yellow Jackets have won a game versus the Skyhawks. The BHSU Yellow Jackets swept Fort Lewis on Day 1 as the Yellow Jackets hit three home runs including a
Taylor Dowden three-run shot in the top of the seventh inning to give them a four-run lead.
Laci Peskey received the win in both games as she was dominant as a starter in game one and dominant as a reliever in game two. The Yellow Jackets were able to break the team single-season runs record today, the single-season total bases record, and the single-season at-bats record.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1

Tyler Whitlock took a pitch to the body to start the game and immediately stole second. She was singled home by
Carly Reyes Mims.
Desi Hernandez hit a single to get Mims to third and
Ashlynn Pauwels hit a record breaking two-RBI double to give BHSU a 3-0 lead. The double gave Pauwels the career doubles record with 36 career doubles.
•   In the second inning,
Taylor Dowden hit a single with one out and stole second. Whitlock singled her home to give BHSU a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the inning. Whitlock was caught stealing for the first time this season.Â
•   Despite a lot of runners getting on, no one scored until the top of the fifth when Pauwels hit her record-breaking 13th home run this season to give BHSU a 5-0 lead.
•   With one out, Pauwels walked to begin the seventh inning. She was pinch ran for by
Andria Fitch and Adrianna Lance batted for
Laci Peskey and hit a single to get Fitch to second.
Alyssa Wong walked to load the bases and
Katelyn Jarzobski came through with a massive bases-clearing double to give BHSU the 8-0 lead. Peskey went 1-2-3 in the seventh to complete her third shutout of the season. BHSU won 8-0 in game one.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED- GAME 2
•   Whitlock led off this game with another hit by pitch that placed her on third. Two groundouts, including a sacrifice bunt got her to third, before Pauwels delivered her fourth RBI of the day with a single to give the Yellow Jackets the 1-0 lead. With one out in the bottom of the inning, Goodell walked Emalynn Redmann and then an error by her allowed Briana Jorgensen to reach and Redmann to reach second. Skyler Dietz walked to load the bases and Alyssa Fockler reached on a fielder's choice that got the runner out at third but allowed Redmann to score. The game was tied at 1-1.

Audrey Fouras hit a one-out home run to give BHSU the lead back in the second inning, making it 2-1 Yellow Jackets. With two outs, Whitlock singled on a bunt,
Carly Reyes Mims and Hernandez both singled, which scored Whitlock and Pauwels hit an RBI double to make the lead 4-1.Â
•   In the bottom of the fourth, Fockler hit a one-out single. With two outs, Goodell walked Rhiannon Lister and walked McKenna Timmons to load the bases. Sienna Mullin hit a single to score Fockler and cut BHSU's lead down to two.Â
•   In the bottom of the fifth,
Malaya Coleman took over the pitching duties and allowed a one-out double to Jorgensen. Dietz singled to first base and advanced to second on a throwing error by Pauwels. The throwing error allowed Jorgensen to score and cut the lead to one. After getting Fockler to fly out, Coleman surrendered to straight singles to tie the game at 4-4. Peskey was brought in and struck out Timmons to end the inning.
•   After no runs scored in the sixth inning, the Yellow Jackets took the field tied at four in the top of the seventh. Pauwels would lead off with another double and advance to third on a bunt single by
Alyssa Wong. Wong advanced to second on a groundout that held Pauwels at third and with one out, Jarzobski hit a sacrifice fly that scored Pauwels and gave BHSU the 5-4 lead. With two outs, Fouras would get hit by a pitch and
Taylor Dowden would launch a home run down the left field line to break the game open giving BHSU an 8-4 lead. Despite allowing a double in the bottom half of the seventh, Peskey would strike out Lister to win the game 8-4.
