LAKEWOOD, COLO.- For the first time in 28 matchups, BHSU faced Colorado Christian and came out with a win. A streak that has lasted since 2015 is officially over as BHSU took game one of the series versus the Cougars with a dominant performance from the offense and
Laci Peskey. The Yellow Jackets were not able to take the second as they were run-ruled, but getting a win versus the top team in the conference is a huge accomplishment today.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
•   BHSU started off the scoring once again in the first inning when with one out,
Carly Reyes Mims and
Desi Hernandez each hit singles to get on first and second. With two outs,
Laci Peskey hit an RBI single to put BHSU up 1-0 headed into the bottom of the first.Â
•   After the next six frames ended with no runs and six strikeouts from
Laci Peskey, Colorado Christian took the plate in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs and pinch runner Sarah Dollerschell on second, Peyton Marvel would hit an RBI single to tie the game at 1. Camryn Quilling singled her to third and a successful double steal scored Marvel and gave Christian a 2-1 lead in the middle innings.Â
•   The Yellow Jackets immediately answered back in the top of the fifth.
Tyler Whitlock led off with a double and Reyes Mims sent her to third with a bunt single. Reyes Mims advanced to second on a Hernandez groundout and both runners scored when
Ashlynn Pauwels hit a deep double. Peskey hit another single to advance Pauwels and
Carli Maley scored her with a single to give BHSU a 4-2 lead.
Taylor Dowden scored Peskey on a single to center and BHSU took a 5-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth.Â
•   Peskey went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the fifth with two more strikeouts to get her to double-digits for the eighth time this year and second start in a row. So, Whitlock rewarded her by leading off the sixth with a single. Reyes Mims got hit by a pitch and reached base for the third time to move Whitlock to second. A double steal put the runners on second and third and Hernandez hit 11th double of the season to score both runs and get her to 37 RBIs on the season. She's second on the team only behind Pauwels, who hit a home run right after her to add two more RBIs to her total and give BHSU a 9-2 lead. It was Pauwels' 10th home run of the year and 24th of her career. This would be the rest of the scoring of this game and BHSU would beat CCU 9-2 and give the green and gold their first win over the Cougars since 2015.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED- GAME 2
•   No runs were scored in the first two innings of this one and heading into the top of 3rd, we were tied at 0. Whitlock hit her record-breaking 15th double to make her the new single-season doubles record holder. She advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Reyes Mims and scored on a passed ball to give BHSU an early 1-0 lead. Colorado Christian would immediately answer back in the bottom of the third when Marvel would hit a one-out single and steal second. With two outs in the inning, the Cougars went on a run. Marvel advanced to third on a wild pitch and then
Paige Goodell would walk the next three batters to score Marvel and tie the game up at 1-1.
Malaya Coleman would enter the game for Goodell and allow an immediate RBI double to Mia Stankiewicz, which would score Marvel and Rachel Williams. Dollerschell walked and Coleman also walked Quilling to score Kat Hanson before Coleman would finally get out of the inning after CCU had taken a 4-1 lead on one two hits and six walks.Â
•   Coleman settled in and no runs were scored in the next five frames bringing it to the bottom of the sixth still sitting at 4-1. Lauren Garcia walked to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a bunt single from Elyse McMullin. Williams hit a three-run homer to give Christian a 7-1 lead. Cheyenne Stark singled and stole second before Hanson singled her to third. Stankiewicz bunt singled to score Stark. Dollerschell singled to load the bases and Quilling singled to score Hanson and enforce the run rule, which ended the game right there giving Colorado Christian the 9-1 win. The Cougars only scored in two innings, but that was all that was needed.Â
