Anderson Re-Breaks Yellow Jacket 800m Record

SEWARD, Neb. – The Black Hills State University men's and women's track and field teams kicked-off a weekend of three last chance meets on Friday afternoon as athletes competed at the Concordia Twilight and the Franson Last Chance. Highlighting the day's competition in the Cornhusker State was middle-distance runner Braden Anderson re-breaking his own school record in the 800m run for the second time this season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT CONCORDIA TWILIGHT
  • Aiden O'Leary earned a fourth place finish as he ran to a time of 53.29, running his fourth sub-54 second time of the season in the 400m hurdles. His time was 0.49 seconds from his career-best which he set last weekend at the Doug Max Invitational.
  • Ending the evening in the 800m run, Braden Anderson re-broke his school record as he crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 1:49.82. He bested his previous career-best time which he set at the Chuck Hearing Invitational by 0.14 seconds. It is his fifth sub-1:51 time of the season in the event.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT CONCORDIA TWILIGHT
  • Kendall Tietjen ran her fifth sub-1:02 time of the season in the 400m hurdles, clocking a time of 1:01.93 for sixth place in the event. The time was 0.58 seconds off her career-best time, which occurred earlier this year at the RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships last month.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT FRANSON LAST CHANCE
  • Sylvia Brown completed 17 of the 25 laps in the 10,000m run with a time of 24:38.13, but was unable to finish the race.
UP NEXT
The trio of Aiden O'Leary, Braden Anderson, and Kendall Tietjen will continue action in the Cornhusker State when they travel west to Kearney, Nebraska, for the Loper Twilight. Track events will begin at 4 p.m. MT / 5 p.m. CT at Kearney High School. On the west coast, Evie Boyd will take the track at the Franson Last Chance in Azusa, California, as the distance carnival events begin at 7 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. MT at the Cougar Athletic Stadium.
