Yellow Jackets Tie for Fifth in Preseason Poll While Collier and Rouse Find Spots on Preseason All-RMAC Teams

DENVER, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced the 2025 football preseason coaches' poll and the Preseason All-RMAC Football Teams on Thursday afternoon in conjunction with their annual media day event. In a vote by the leagues' coaches the Yellow Jackets tallied 43 points, projected to finish tied with rivals South Dakota Mines for fifth in the standings. Additionally, BHSU's returning First Team All-RMAC athletes, Jayson Rouse and Kellen Collier were both named to the preseason all-conference team.

Rouse is set to return for his redshirt senior season in 2025 after receiving First Team All-RMAC honors in 2024 and Honorable Mention All-RMAC honors in 2023. A year ago, he started all 11 games at left tackle, helping provide protection up front for an offense that averaged 118.5 rushing yards, 219 passing yards, and 337.5 yards of total offense. The offensive line allowed only 18.0 sacks in 11 games, ranking second in the league with an average of just 1.64 sacks allowed per game, which included four games where they did not surrender a sack. Of the 18.0 sacks allowed by BHSU only 2.0 were surrendered by Rouse. On five occasions the Yellow Jackets ran for more than 100 yards, and three times reached 200 yards on the ground. Through the air BHSU passed for 200 yards or more five times and twice recorded 300 or more yards through the air attack.

Collier also received First Team All-RMAC for the first time in his career in 2024 after being named Honorable Mention All-RMAC in 2023. He appeared in all 11 games a year ago, making ten starts as he totaled 36.0 tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, eight quarterback hurries, and one fumble recovery. He recorded five or more tackles in at least three games during the year, including a season-high of eight in a Swarm Days win over Fort Lewis. Additionally, he recorded a tackle for loss in nine of the 11 games on the year and also posted a season-high of 2.5 against the Skyhawks.
