Katie Christy, the Black Hills State University women's triathlon team announced their 2025 schedule on Tuesday afternoon. The slate for the Yellow Jackets will include three regular season meets, plus the regional qualifier and the potential national championship race.
The Green & Gold will open the season by competing at the Southern Hills Triathlon for the ninth time in program history, as they make the short drive to Angostura Recreation Area in Hot Springs, South Dakota, on Saturday, August 30. The event will be the lone super sprint for BHSU, with the race being half the normal distance with a quick 375-meter swim, a 10-kilometer bike, and a 2.5-kilometer run.
Black Hills State will then travel southwest to Loma, Colorado, for the Desert's Edge Triathlon on Sunday, September 14. The event at the Highline State Park will be the first sprint triathlon of the year for the Yellow Jackets who will look to conquer the 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike, and 5-kilometer run course.
The first of two triathlons during the month of October will be their lone trip east as they are set to compete at the Prairie State Cup for the second consecutive year. Hosted at the Clinton Lake State Recreation Area in Clinton, Illinois, the race will once again be a sprint distance on Saturday, October 4. Three weeks later on Sunday, October 26, the Yellow Jackets will look to punch their ticket to nationals at the NCAA West Regionals at the Marine Creek Lake Park in Fort Worth, Texas.
The final race of the year on the schedule will be the NCAA National Championships, which return to Tempe, Arizona, following a one-year hiatus, and will be hosted at the Tempe Town Lake. BHSU will look to continue their success on the national stage as they have become a perennial contender, finishing within the top-6 of NCAA Division II seven consecutive seasons.
