SPEARFISH, S.D.- The Black Hills State Women's Basketball team announced their 2025-26 schedule Tuesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets schedule includes the classic 20 RMAC conference games, seven non-conference games, including the East/West Challenge and a trip to Puerto Rico, as well as two games against Lone Star conference opponents.
The Green and Gold start their season at home versus those Lone Star conference teams. They will face St. Edwards University on November 14 and St. Mary's (TX) on November 18. It will be the first time BHSU has faced either of these teams ever, so there is a chance to get a 1-0 record in the series early. Both of the two teams are coming off seasons with losing records in the LSC.
The Yellow Jackets will then go on a long road trip where they will face Minnesota Crookston on November 19 in the return game of the home and home matchup and then will stay east of the Missouri River to face Northern State on November 21 and Sioux Falls on November 22 in the East/West Challenge in the Stewart Center in Sioux Falls.
BHSU will stay on the road and in-state as they start their RMAC conference matchups with South Dakota Mines in Rapid City on December 2. The Jackets will look to keep a six-game winning streak versus their rivals alive. This will then lead to a home matchup versus Chadron State on December 4 where the Green and Gold will look to get back in the win column versus the Eagles after having a 13-game winning streak in the series snapped in Chadron last year.
Conference play continues at A2 Arena as BHSU will host UCCS on December 11 and Colorado Christian on December 13. Versus UCCS, BHSU has won eight of the last 10 and two in a row to even the series at 13-13, so winner of this game will break the tie. The Yellow Jackets have also won eight of the last 10 versus Christian and have not lost at home since 2019.
BHSU will finish off the 2025 calendar year with a trip to Puerto Rico to play in the Puerto Rico Classico. They will face PUCPR on December 17 and then will face UPR-Mayaguez on December 18.
BH will start the 2026 calendar year on the road versus Regis on January 8 and MSU Denver on January 10. The Yellow Jackets have won eight of the last ten versus Rangers and have taken a 15-8 lead on the series. MSU Denver is the first team that the Jackets are facing that have a winning record against them with the Roadrunners leading the series 16-12, but BHSU has won six of the last eight including three in a row coming into the season.
The Green and Gold will face their first home opponents of the 2026 calendar year with New Mexico Highlands on January 15 and Fort Lewis on January 17. BHSU's 15 game winning streak versus Highlands ended in Las Vegas last year when the Cowgirls beat them for the first time in BHSU's D2 era, but BHSU bounced back in a big way at home to make the series 17-1 winning by 21. The Yellow Jackets have won 16 straight games versus the Skyhawks and have not lost since their first meeting after BHSU joined D2.
The Yellow Jackets will then head over to Colorado and face Colorado Mesa on January 22 and Western Colorado on January 24. BHSU will look to get their first win versus Mesa since 2023 after Mesa swept the series last season. On the other hand, the Jackets have won four of their last five head-to-heads versus the Mountaineers but did fall in their most recent matchup last season, so they will look to get back in the winning column versus Western this year.
BHSU will have the rivalry weekend after that where they will go to Chadron on January 27 before coming home for South Dakota Mines on January 31. This will be the second meeting of the season for these two teams and BHSU will look to get back in the winning column at the Chicoine Center after losing there last season, while looking to keep their foot on the gas versus Mines, who the Yellow Jackets beat by 15 in this meeting last season.
The Green and Gold will head to southern Colorado to face CSU Pueblo on February 5 and then will head to Colorado Springs to face UCCS on February 7. BHSU crushed CSU Pueblo in their meeting in the conference tournament last season and won both match ups last year by a combined 40 points. They will then face UCCS, who they beat in both match ups last season including the biggest blowout win of any game last year when they won by 28 in the game at UCCS.
Colorado School of Mines and Regis will come to Spearfish that next weekend with BHSU facing the Orediggers on February 12 and then facing the Rangers for the second time on February 14. CSM has won five of the last six meetings versus the Yellow Jackets, including winning last year in a close two-point game. BHSU won last year's match up at home versus the Rangers by 24 points.
The final road trip of the season will be a long one for the Yellow Jackets as they will head to Adams State on February 19 before traveling to New Mexico Highlands on February 21. The Yellow Jackets will look to end a streak of four straight losses to the Grizzlies and then will look to get revenge in Las Vegas, NM and look to start a new streak versus the Cowgirls.
Finally, BHSU will come home to face Westminster for the first time this season on February 26 and then once again face Mesa on February 28. BH has won five of the last seven versus the Griffins and have won the last three in a row. The last time BHSU faced Westminster in A2 Arena was early in 2023 and the Jackets won 58-54. It will be BHSU's second meeting with Mesa in just over a month and will be the final matchup of the regular season.
The quarterfinals of the RMAC Tournament will be held on March 3 at the highest seed's home arena, while the semifinals and finals will be held at the highest remaining seed's home site on March 6 and 7.
