  • The Yellow Jackets finished tied for fifth in the RMAC a year ago and are predicted to finish tied for fifth in the standings in 2025.
  • The Green & Gold will be on the road for the first time in 2025 this weekend. Last season they were 2-4 away from Lyle Hare Stadium, however, they closed 2024 with a 2-2 mark in those contests with victories at South Dakota Mines (22-20) and New Mexico Highlands (48-31).
  • Black Hills State has dropped their last two season opening road games and will seek their first win in a road opener since September 1, 2023, when they won at Dickinson State 17-2.
  • Saturday night’s contest will be just the Yellow Jackets fourth game in program history east of the Mississippi River, but the first in program history in the eastern time zone. In the previous three games out east, they lost at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire by a score of 0-20 on September 9, 2006, lost at the University of Wisconsin-Stout by a score of 7-19 on September 3, 2011, and won at Robert Morris University (Ill.) by a score of 28-20 on November 10, 2018.

  • BHSU only rushed the ball 17 times against The Coo, with Cameron Goods and Danny Davis each receiving the bulk of those carries with six apiece. Goods ran the ball for a net gain of 29 yards while Davis tallied 24 yards. Each back posted a long run of 22 yards in the opener. Goods entered the season with 1,535 yards on the ground in his career and has found the end zone 13 times. In his final outing of 2024, he became just the fifth running back for BHSU to rush for 150 or more yards and three touchdowns in a single game since 2004.
  • Black Hills State showed the importance of TJ Chukwurah’s return at the wide receiver position as he notched his fifth career 100-yard receiving game and the first for the Yellow Jackets since November 11, 2023. Against Sioux Falls he snagged ten receptions for 109 yards and three touchdowns. Additionally, he will be just the tenth coach in school history to reach the 6-year threshold. His six wins in 2024 brought him into the top-10 all-time in Yellow Jacket history with a career record of 23-24 guiding the program, currently ranking ninth in victories.
