HOW IT HAPPENED
  •  The Skyhawks took the early 4-2 lead with a jumper from Makayla Porter before BHSU hit the next two baskets with Taylin Serlen and Brinlee McRae each hitting jumpers to take a 6-4 lead. Katie Lamb would hit a three and McRae would hit another jumper to keep the Jackets in front 8-7 before FLC went on a 5-0 run to take a 12-8 lead. Maureen Ulrich and Alli Glasscock would both make jumpers down the stretch to send the game into the second quarter tied at 12.
  • The Green and Gold started the second quarter hitting the first two baskets to take a four point lead before Lamb hit another three to cut it to one. After Bradie Schlabs hit two free throws, FLC would get back-to-back jumpers to take the lead back at 19-18 before Glasscock gave it right back to BHSU with a jumper. Porter got an and-one to take a 22-20 lead and then Serlen tied it up with a layup at 22. The Skyhawks would end the half on a 5-1 run to take a 27-23 lead going into the break.
  • The halftime leaders for BHSU included Serlen, who had eight points and two rebounds. McRae and Glasscock both had four points and combined for three rebounds. Makayla Porter had 13 points and two blocks in the first half, while Katie Lamb had eight points and two steals for Fort Lewis.
  • The third quarter has been the Yellow Jackets quarter as of late and it was no different tonight as they started the half on a 10-2 run that had five different players find the bottom of the net including a Sawyer Stoebner jumper to give BHSU the lead and then a Serlen layup to put them up 33-29. FLC hit a three before the Green and Gold went on a 10-4 run to end the period that included four points from Schlabs and another four points from Audrey Norville to put BHSU up 43-36 going into the final quarter.
  • BHSU started the fourth on a 5-2 run with Emily Cooper hitting BHSU's first and only three of the game to put the Yellow Jackets up ten at 48-38. Ulrich hit a jumper to put BHSU back up ten after a layup by Josie Davis and then BHSU did not hit a field goal the last four minutes of the game and just relied on free throws to keep their lead which worked to perfection as the closest the Skyhawks got it to was five points, when a Davis layup made it 57-52 with 17 seconds to go, however Cooper hit both her free throws after that and the Yellow Jackets held on to win 59-52. The two teams combined for 9-27 from the field in the fourth quarter.

BLACK HILLS STATE STATISTICAL LEADERS:
