GUNNISON, Colo.- The Yellow Jackets were down 16 to WCU with five minutes to go and then were able to get the gap all the way down to one before the time ran out on the comeback attempt and the Mountaineers took the win 75-74. BHSU shot 43 percent from the field but allowed WCU to shoot 50 percent from three.
Bradie Schlabs led the way with 18 points.
Brinlee McRae had 16 and
Audrey Norville had 15. It was the first time BHSU had three players with 15 points or more.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter started off rough for the Yellow Jackets with Western starting on a 11-3 run. Brinlee McRae made a layup and Serlen also did to cut the lead to 13-7. Jayda Maves made a three pointer to put it back up to nine. Norville and Alli Glasscock both made layups around Western free throws to send the game into the second quarter with BHSU down 18-11.
- BHSU looked to find their groove to start the second quarter going on a 12-2 run with layups from McRae, Serlen, Stoebner, Glasscock, and a three ball from McRae. This gave BHSU their first lead of the game at 22-20. Western went on a 4-0 run to take the lead back with a three pointer from Jacy Chandler and gave them the lead back at 24-22. Maureen Ulrich hit a three to take the lead back at 25-24. That's where the run ended as back-to-back threes by WCU started a 13-2 run to send the Mountaineers into the half with a 37-27 lead.
- The halftime leaders for BHSU included McRae, who had seven points, Serlen had six points, and Norville had five points and three assists in the first half. Jayda Maves, who is one of the top three-point shooters in the RMAC, had three threes and then Ivey Schmidt and Chandler added two each.
- The Mountaineers once again started the third quarter hot. They went on a 9-2 run with two threes from Penelope Urquhart that got the score up to 46-29. BHSU answered with a 7-2 run to make the score 48-36. Maves made a layup to take a 14-point lead and then Schlabs hit a three to make it 11. Each teams added two points as they went into the final period 52-41.
- Norville started the fourth quarter with a solo 5-0 run with a three-pointer and a layup to get the score down to six at 52-46. Unfortunately, WCU seemed to put the final dagger in with a 10-0 run to go up 16 points. That's when BHSU came alive. Audrey Norville had an and-one and McRae added a three to cut the lead down to ten at 62-52. Schlabs got a steal and passed it to Glasscock for a layup. Schlabs got another layup almost immediately to cut the score to 62-56 and make it a six-point game. The two teams traded layups and then Maves made a three to put Western up nine with 2:45 to go. BHSU made their next four free throws, while Western made one to put the total up to 68-62. McRae got a steal and found Schlabs for a three to to get the lead down to three with 1:48 to go. Western went on a 5-0 run to make 73-65. Norville hit two free throws and then Glasscock got a steal and found McRae for a layup. Western turned it over and McRae made another layup and the lead was down to two at 73-71. Schmidt made both her free throws and then Emily Cooper hit a three to make it 75-74. Chloe Daniels missed both her free throws and then a half-court heave fell short and Western got the win 75-74.
