Yellow Jackets Continue Dominance With 53-Point Win Over Regis to Begin 2026

DENVER, Colo.- The Black Hills State Yellow Jackets won their third straight game by 50 or more points by beating the Regis Rangers 89-36 in Denver, Colo. The Yellow Jackets, who won both games in Puerto Rico by 50 or more points, took down the Rangers in all categories, especially the rebounding battle, which was one of the Rangers strong suits. The Green and Gold outrebounded RU 50-22 and won the offensive rebounding battle 20-2. They also had a season-high 21 steals tonight. The Yellow Jackets had four players in double-digits as well.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Yellow Jackets started the game up 4-0 with Maureen Ulrich and Sawyer Stoebner layups. Regis scored the next three with a layup by Caitie Turnbow and a free throw. Emily Cooper hit a three and then Alli Glasscock made a layup to put BHSU up 9-3. After Regis hit a jumper to cut the lead to four, BHSU went on a 4-0 run before immediately being answered with a 4-0 run by the Rangers. The Yellow Jackets would end the quarter scoring seven of eight points including three by Norville. This gave BHSU a 20-10 lead heading into the second period.
  • Turnbow would hit a jumper to get the scoring started in the second frame before BH would go on a 9-2 run to take a 29-14 lead with all nine points coming from Brinlee McRae and Tess Rule. Turnbow would score five straight points to make it 29-19 before the Yellow Jackets would end on a 9-0 run that included four points from Stoebner and five from Bradie Schlabs as BHSU went into the break with a 38-19 lead.
  • Halftime leaders for the Yellow Jackets included Stoebner, who had eight points and three rebounds in the first half. Schlabs had seven points and a team-high six rebounds, and Tess Rule had seven points and three rebounds. For Regis, Turnbow had six points, while Jessica Bollwahn had six points and four rebounds.
  • The Yellow Jackets started the second half on a 9-2 run that had four points from Taylin Serlen and four points from Stoebner. Kate Gallery of Regis hit a three and also added a jumper to cut BHSU's lead to 49-26. The Yellow Jackets would follow this up with a 19-2 run to end the third quarter that included eight points from Ulrich, five from Serlen, and three free throws from Audrey Norville as BHSU took a 68-28 lead going into the fourth quarter.
  • Regis scored six of the first ten points to begin the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 72-34. The Yellow Jackets ended the game on a 17-2 run with 12 of those points coming from Glasscock and a three-pointer coming from Sydney Deem. The Yellow Jackets ended up winning 89-36 and shot 47.2 percent from the field in this game.
