CHADRON, Neb. – The majority of the Black Hills State University men's and women's track & field team visited The Cornhusker State for the third time this season to compete at the Don Holst Open in the Nelson Physical Activity Center on Saturday. The women's team, which won the meet against their regional rivals, tallied 171 points with seven event victories. Leading the way on the women's team was
Avery Marler who notched a pair of wins in the 60m dash and long jump. The No. 26 nationally ranked men's squad finished second in the meet with 110 points and five event victories and was led by
Drew Lehman who re-broke his own school record in the triple jump and captured the best mark in the RMAC and seventh-best mark in the nation in the event.

HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT UW INVITATIONAL
- The pair of Gavin Kuhlenbeck and Landrum Wiley traveled west to compete in the 5,000m run at the University of Washington on Friday, recording finishes of seventh place and 17th place respectively with times of 14:38.29 and 14:52.48 against numerous NCAA Division I competitors. Wiley's time in the event set a new career-best.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT DON HOLST OPEN
- In the 60m dash, Jude Guevara recorded a seventh place finish in both the prelims (7.30) and the finals (7.33) to lead the Yellow Jackets in the event. Isaac Job added a tenth place finish in the prelims with a time of 7.36 for a new season-best time in the event.
- Ashley Williams clocked a fifth place finish in the 200m dash, crossing the finish line in a time of 23.91, while Logan Boyd added a 13th place finish with a time of 25.54.
- Flynn Johnston posted a winning time of 50.83 in the 400m dash, and Boyd added a sixth place finish with a time of 56.30.
- Leading a trio of freshmen, Dominic Eberle turned in a third place finish with a time of 4:28.73 in the mile, while Anthony Ackerman added a seventh place finish with a time of 4:34.87 and Conor Phipps added an eighth place finish with a time of 4:36.64.
- In the high jump, Trennan Pearson cleared a height of 1.85m (6' 0.75") for the event win.
- Chase Maher and McKaleter Johns notched a 1-2 finish in the pole vault, each clearing 4.60m (15' 1"). Maher cleared the height on his first attempt while Johns did so on his second attempt. Johns' mark set a new season-best and moved him into a tie for seventh place on the school's all-time performance list.
- The Yellow Jackets added a 1-2-3 finish in the long jump as Seth Wilson won the event with a career-best mark of 6.76m (22' 2.25"), while Bridger Anderon and Javin Walker posted marks of 6.61m (21' 8.25") and 6.24m (20' 5.75") respectively for second and third place.
- Two weeks removed from breaking a 50-year old school record in the triple jump and being the first in school history to jump 48' in the event, Drew Lehmann re-broke his school record and became the first Yellow Jacket to ever jump 50' as he notched a mark of 15.26m (50' 0.75") for the event win. The jump makes him the first in the RMAC to clear 49' and puts him seventh nationally in the event. Making it a 1-2 finish in the triple jump for Black Hills State was Walker who notched a mark of 12.46m (40' 10.5") for second place.
- The lone Yellow Jacket competing in the shot put, Matthew LoFaso recorded a mark of 12.64m (41' 5.75") for eighth place.
- Ryan Baker led a trio of Yellow Jackets in the weight throw with a second place finish and a toss of 16.89m (55' 5"). Rounding out the trio in the event was Barren Yellow Bird who was seventh with a throw of 13.85m (45' 5.25") and LoFaso who was eighth with a throw of 13.51m (44' 4").

HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
- In the 60m dash, Avery Marler clocked the fastest time in both the prelims (7.81) and the finals (7.82) to win the event. Joining her in the finals was Alessandra Broussard, who posted the fifth-fastest time in the prelims (8.29), and then recorded a new career-best time of 8.21 to finish third in the finals. Also competing in the event was Sophia Kennedy who finished ninth in the prelims with a time of 8.50.
- The sophomore duo of Saraya Afrank and Gracie Wilts finished 1-2 in the 200m dash, notching times of 26.81 and 27.70 respectively. Alexa Colman added a top-5 finish with a time of 28.38, and Kennedy rounded out the group with an eighth place finish and time of 29.33.
- The pair of Jillian Brennan and Madison Zander notched a 1-2 finish in the 800m run, posting times of 2:28.24 and 2:29.40 respectively.
- In the mile, Jacey Wipf and Payton Sheehan recorded times of 5:55.53 and 6:01.17 for sixth and seventh place. Wipf's time set a new season-best in her freshman campaign, while Sheehan's time was a new career-best.
- The Yellow Jackets added a 1-2-3 finish in the 60m hurdles, led by Broussard who captured the win in the event with a season-best time of 9.65. Freshman Madyson Wolfe also added a season-best time of 9.67 seconds for a second place finish, and Lauryn Bennett earned third place with a career-best time of 10.00.
- Wilts notched the win in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.55m (5' 1") on her first attempt for the victory. Also recording a top-5 finish was Erin Weibel who was fifth with a height of 1.35m (4' 5"), clearing the mark on her third attempt.
- Gretchen Adamski captured her second event title of the season in the pole vault, clearing 3.70m (12' 1.5") on her first attempt. Joining Adamski as a part of four Yellow Jackets in the top-5 of the event were Brekkan Lockhart, Bennett, and Hope Bryant, who were third, fourth, and fifth respectively as they each cleared 3.25m (10' 8"). Lockhart and Bennett each cleared the height on their first attempt, while Bryant did so on her second attempt. Rounding out the BHSU athletes competing in the event was Colman who cleared a season-best height of 2.95m (9' 8") for eighth place.
- As a part of her two event wins on the day, Marler notched a mark of 5.44m (17' 10.25") to earn the victory in the long jump. Adding top-5 finishes in the event as well was Afrank and Adlyn Eng who posted marks of 5.20m (17' 0.75") and 5.05m (16' 7") for third and fourth respectively.
- Hanah Sulivan posted a mark of 12.27m (40' 3.25") for a third place finish in the shot put, while Cassidy Goddard was sixth with a toss of 11.15m (36' 7").
- Goddard and Sullivan added top-5 finishes in the weight throw as Godard record a mark of 14.88m (48' 10") for second place and Sullivan notched a mark of 14.24m (46' 8.75") for third place.
