With a bevy of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels already under his belt, Kevin Hubbard begins his transition back into the college coaching world as a defensive assistant coach for the Yellow Jackets in 2018-19. Hubbard will primarily work with BHSU’s linebackers.

Following a playing career at North Carolina State University, Hubbard got his foot in the door as an assistant coach at Division II Shaw University. While at Shaw, Hubbard was a member of the staff that won the 2004 CIAA Championship and then went on to win the Pioneer Bowl against Tuskegee University in Mobile, Ala.

After his time in Raleigh, Hubbard became Defensive Coordinator at Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Fla. Hubbard led a defense that surrendered less than 12 points per game while at Mandarin. He would then go on to be the Defensive Coordinator at NAIA Edward Waters College. While at Edward Waters, Hubbard and the Tigers won one conference championship. Following Edward Waters, he spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at FCS Jacksonville University, where he was a part of the staff that won a Pioneer Football League Championship in 2010.

Hubbard returned to the high school ranks after leaving JU, as the Defensive Coordinator at New Smyrna Beach High School in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. He would hold this post for one season before becoming the athletic director/assistant football coach at Central Pageland High in Chesterfield County, S.C. After two successful years leading the programs at Central Pageland, Hubbard returned to Florida to take over the football program as Head Coach at New Smyrna Beach where he would remain until joining the staff at BHSUÂ in the spring of 2018.

Coach Hubbard is married to the former Jacqueline Johnson. Jackie and Hubb have 3 children: JD (17), Dakota (12) and London (5).
