Black Hills State University Athletics

The 2015 season marks Neil Novak's first as graduate assistant defensive backs coach at Black Hills State University. 

Novak assists with equipment, academic progress and game film exchange in addition to coaching the defensive backs. Utah, Wyoming, and all JC's are Novak's recruiting areas. 

Novak began his coaching career after a three-year playing career (2011-2013) at the safety position for Black Hills State. The three-year starter, who transferred from Chadron State prior to the 2011 season, was voted team captain as a senior. Novak's class was the anchor in Black Hills State's transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II.

The Rock Springs, Wyo. native obtained his bachelor's degree in physical education from BHSU following the 2014 fall semester. Novak jumped onto the coaching scene during the 2014 season as the defensive backs coach at Spearfish High School. 

Novak is currently pursuing a master's degree in strategic leadership at Black Hills State University.
