Ryan Conrad

Defensive graduate assistant Ryan Conrad joined the Black Hills State University football coaching staff in January 2016. Conrad arrived in Spearfish following two seasons at St. Olaf College, where he was the running backs coach. The Iowa native also created recruiting graphics, planned recruiting trips and directed the student manager staff for the Ole football program.

Conrad got his feet wet in the coaching world at Dallas-Melcher High School (IA), where he was head coach from 2010-2012. He led Dallas-Melcher to the state playoffs in each of his three seasons at the helm. Conrad's efforts landed him 2011 Class A/8-Man Region 4 IFCA Coach of the Year.

His successful tenure at Dallas-Melcher landed him on the Waterloo East High School coaching staff prior to the 2013 season. Conrad was the defensive coordinator/top assistant in his lone season at Waterloo East.

Conrad earned a bachelor of arts degree in social science teaching (grades 5-12) from the University of Northern Iowa in December 2009. He is currently pursuing a master's of science in education with an emphasis in technology at Black Hills State University.
