Jamie Bentley enters her eighth year as the Black Hills State University head coach after serving as the interim head coach for the second half of the 2007-08 season. In 2008-09, Coach Bentley guided the Yellow Jackets to the program’s first-ever Dakota Athletic Conference Championship and NAIA National meet appearance.
In the 2015-16 season, the Yellow Jackets placed second at the South Dakota Mines Invitational, the highest finish of the NCAA Division II era.
The 2014-15 season saw Amanda Kopren claim first place at the South Dakota Mines Invitational, which then led her to being named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week. Kopren was the first Yellow Jacket to earn an RMAC weekly honor.
Prior to the NCAA-era, Bentley coached three NAIA Scholar-Athletes and had her team qualify as an NAIA Scholar Team each of the four years while part of the NAIA.
Bentley is a native of Spearfish, South Dakota, and grew up around Black Hills State athletics. Both of her parents were student-athletes at BHSU with her father playing baseball and mother part of the basketball and softball teams.
In 2004, Jaime joined the Yellow Jacket family as a member of the women’s basketball, golf and softball teams. As a golfer, Bentley was a two-time conference MVP, occurring in the 2005-06 and 2006-07.
Bentley graduated from BHSU in 2007 with a degree in wellness management. She joined the coaching staff in 2007 as an assistant golf coach and took over in the spring season as the interim head coach. Bentley has become a member of the LPGA and is working toward her Class A Card as a teaching and club professional. Bentley is also the assistant golf pro at Spearfish Canyon Country Club.
