Fargo, N.D. - The BHSU rodeo team concluded its fall season Oct. 19-20 at the NDSU Bison Stampede held in Fargo, N.D. The BHSU women's team finished first, while the Men were fifth in the team standings.
"Our team's versatility has certainly contributed to our success," said head coach Glen Lammers. "Our women's team is definitely on track with our short term goals, as they extended their lead in the Great Plains Region."
The women's team was led by senior Joey Painter from Buffalo who won the goat tying with 12.1 on two and placed third in barrel racing with a two run total of 26.34. Painter earned the All-Around title for the rodeo.
Other point earners for the BHSU women's team were Lindsey Goulet of Watford City, N.D. placing second in barrel racing with a total of 25.93. Jamie Britton from Buffalo was fourth in goat tying with 13.3 and sixth in barrels with a total 26.43. Brooke Lillis from Bismarck, N.D. was fourth in the first round of breakaway roping with 2.9 second run and Nellie Soring from Cohasset, Minn. finished second in first round of barrels with a 12.92.
The BHSU Men's team members receiving points were Ty Clarke of Wessington who won the team roping with 14.0 seconds on two runs, while teammate Wyatt Treeby of Hecla was fourth in team roping with a 20.1. Ty Krantz from Mitchell along with teammate Wyatt Treeby placed in the tie down roping as they were 10.9 and 11.5, placing them in fourth and sixth, respectively.
"We plan to work hard during the off-season to continue raising our competitive level and prepare for the second part of our season," said Lammers.
College Rodeo competition resumes April 5-6 at the SDSU Jackrabbit Stampede.
