Spearfish, S.D. – The No. 3 Black Hills State University men's basketball team fell to Minot 63-60 on Saturday night. With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 17-4 overall and 6-1 in the Dakota Athletic Conference.
Despite leading by as many as eight points in the second half the Yellow Jackets couldn't overcome a 9-0 run with 7:44 left in the game by Minot State. Minot State's Kal Bay hit a three-point shot with 2.1 seconds left to give the Beavers the 63-60 edge. Cain Atkinson could not hit the final attempt for the Yellow Jackets as time expired.
The Yellow Jackets were led Atkinson who finished the contest with 17 points. Will John Johnson posted points and 19 rebounds to tally his 13th double-double of the season. Fellow senior Luke Enos added 13 points.
Black Hills State will return to action on Thursday, January 26 to face S.D. School of Mines at the Donald E. Young Center in Spearfish. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. MT. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
