Spearfish, S.D. – The No. 6 Black Hills State University men's basketball team defeated Valley City State 80-68 Friday in Spearfish to advance to 13-3 (2-0 DAC) on the season.
"Tonight we competed with a total team effort," said head coach Bradd Schafer. "Valley City is a tough team, they fought back but we were able to come away with the win."
The Yellow Jackets were led by senior Luke Enos who finished the contest with 23 points. Enos was one of four Yellow Jackets tallying double-digits on the night. Senior Clay Pottorff had 13 points, sophomore Tanner Adler finished with 13 points and senior Cain Atkinson finished the game with 11 points.
Black Hills State shot the ball extremely well from the field, shooting 52.4% from the floor and 44.4% from behind the arc. The Yellow Jackets played well defensively forcing 10 turnovers and held the Vikings to 27.8% from the behind the arc.
Black Hills State will return to action Saturday, January 8 when they face Jamestown. Game time is slated for 6 p.m. MT.
