Black Hills State Men's Basketball Loses To Montana Tech

Butte, Mont. – The Black Hills State University men's basketball team traveled to Butte, Montana for their first exhibition game of the season. The Yellow Jackets fell to Montana Tech on Friday night by a score of 49-70.

The offensive struggles for the Yellow Jackets were the main culprit in their loss to the Diggers. The Black Hills State men struggled to score throughout the first half of the contest, shooting just .179 percent and going 5-28 from the floor in the half. The Yellow Jackets trailed Montana Tech 16-30 at halftime.

Black Hills State improved their shooting in the second half, but was unable to overcome the first half deficit despite better shooting and a strong performance on the offensive boards. The Yellow Jackets were led by junior Tommy Earl who was four for six from the field with 13 points, three rebounds, and three steals.

The Black Hills State men will return to the hardwood tonight as they look to pick up a road win at Rocky Mountain in Billings, Montana. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. MT.
