St. Charles, MO – Black Hills State University volleyball team dropped their second straight match of the NCAA Transitional Tournament at Lindenwood University. The Yellow Jackets squared off against University of Sioux Falls in their final pool play match of the tournament. Black Hills State struggled on the net both offensively and defensively as the Cougars swept the Yellow Jackets by scores of 16-25, 22-25, and 21-25.

The Yellow Jackets were plagued by hitting errors to start the first set, giving the Cougars an early lead that they would allow them to coast to a set one victory by a score of 16-25. Black Hills State saw a better performance in the second set, but the Yellow Jackets were unable to overcome the flurry of blocks by the Sioux Falls defense. With the game tied at 22-22, the Yellow Jackets gave up a critical late run and fell 22-25 to end the set. The third set would contain many of the same obstacles as the first two sets and the Yellow Jackets went on to lose the third set 21-25. Black Hills State moves to 10-21 on the season with today's loss.
 
Black Hills State was led offensively by freshman middle hitter Holly Hamlin who had a stand-out performance offensively. Hamlin recorded eight kills and two errors on just 16 attempts with a team high .375 hitting percentage. Sophomore outside hitter Caitlin Templeton led the team in kills with 12. The Yellow Jacket defense also saw a tremendous performance from sophomore defensive specialist Kyla Johnson. Johnson recorded nine digs and one service ace on the afternoon. Freshman libero Kelsey Olson was the team's leader in digs with 11.

The Yellow Jackets will play their final game of the season tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. CT against the McKendree Bearcats for fifth and sixth place in the tournament. This will be the final match of both the 2011 season and the NCAA Transitional Tournament for the Yellow Jackets.
