Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State Yellow Jacket women's basketball team squared off against Rocky Mountain College tonight at the Donald E. Young Center. The Yellow Jackets were unable to stop the hot three-point shooting of the Bears. Black Hills State would eventually fall to Rocky Mountain by a final score of 58-69.
Black Hills State battled alongside Rocky Mountain for throughout the first half as the Yellow Jackets shot 40% from the field and 50% from behind the arc. The Yellow Jackets pulled away to go into the half with a two-point lead. After the break, the Bears came out firing as they shot 68% from the field and an even higher 71% from downtown outscoring Black Hills State 43-30 in the second half.
The Yellow Jackets were led offensively by senior guard Kristi Ryan. The Highmore, S.D. native finished the contest with 17 (5-14) points and eight rebounds. Ryan also tallied a pair of steals and a pair of assists. Junior forward Morgan Mines also added 10 (4-8) points for the Yellow Jackets as she was followed up by freshman Cassidy Kotelman who dropped in nine (3-9).
The Yellow Jacket women will be back in action again on Dec. 29 as they take on Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo. at 7:05 p.m. MT.
