Black Hills State Men's Basketball Defeats Rocky Mountain

Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men's Basketball team rolled to a victory over Rocky Mountain College tonight at the Donald E. Young Center. The Yellow Jackets sharpshooting led by Tommy Earl and Rob Johnson proved to be the difference as Black Hills State ran away with the 82-71 win.

"We came out a little sluggish to start the game but were able to keep fighting and compete in the second half," said Head Coach Bradd Schafer. "One big positive for us was our ability to get to the free throw line. We had a huge performance from Tommy Earl. He stepped up alongside Rob Johnson who got to the rim and made his shots from the free throw line."

The Yellow Jackets led in scoring by junior guard Tommy Earl. Earl was lights out from the floor making nine of 14 attempts. Earl finished the game with 28 points and six rebounds. Rob Johnson also had a solid game with 21 points from the floor and 10 rebounds. Johnson was 15-15 from the free throw line.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action Friday, December 9 as they travel to Carroll, Mont. for the Carroll College Classic. Black Hills State will square off against Carroll College at 7:30 p.m. MT. The game can be heard locally on 980 AM KDSJ or worldwide at KDSJ980.com.
