Helena, Mont. – The Black Hills State University men's basketball team picked up a tough road win at the Carroll College Classic against host Carroll College. The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a first half lead before putting away the Saints for good in the 72-63 final.
The Yellow Jackets secured the first half lead with a hot hand from behind the arc. Black Hills State entered the locker room at the break with a six point lead, which would prove to be enough cushion as the grinded out the victory against Carroll. The Yellow Jackets were 7-18 from behind the arc compared to a 9-30 performance from the Saints.
Black Hills State once again received a tremendous offensive boost from senior forward Rob Johnson and junior guard Tommy Earl. The two Yellow Jackets scored a combined 40 points as they each went for 20 points on the evening. Johnson was 7-14 from the field and 3-4 from the foul line as the lone senior paved the way for the Black Hills State Victory. Earl finished the game shooting an impressive 9-15 from the floor.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action Saturday, December 10 as they take on Great Falls. The game can be heard on 980 AM KDSJ, tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m. MT.
