Men's Basketball Rolls Past Mayville State

Spearfish, S.D. - The Black Hills State University men's basketball team defeated Mayville State 91-70 in the quarterfinal round of the Dakota Athletic Conference tournament Wednesday night in Spearfish.

"We came out ready to play tonight," said head coach Bradd Schafer.  "Our strong start set the tempo for the rest of the game.  I thought our guys did a good job of moving without the ball, setting screens and reading screens tonight."

The Yellow Jackets shot the ball well making 52% of their shots from the field and shooting 41% from three-point range.  Black Hills State had five players score in double-digits led by senior Will John Johnson who grabbed his 18th double-double of the season scoring 18 points and bringing down 13 rebounds.  Senior Cain Atkinson finished with 18 points and sophomore Tanner Adler added 13 points off the bench.  Seniors Luke Enos and Clay Pottorff each scored 12 points in the Yellow Jackets' victory.

Black Hills State, 24-5 overall, will return to action Sunday, February 27 as the team will host Minot State at the Donald E. Young Center in Spearfish.  Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. MT.  Tickets are available at the Young Center in advance or at the gate.
