Men's Basketball Wins DAC Title

Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men's basketball defeated S.D. School of Mines 75-63 to win the Dakota Athletic Conference tournament title and earn a berth in the NAIA National Tournament.

"Tonight was really special, it means a lot for our seniors to end with a conference title," said head coach Bradd Schafer.  "We have a lot of basketball left, we have played all season to get to the national tournament and now we will wait to see were we will be seeded."

The Yellow Jackets were led by the big men down low, seniors Luke Enos and Will John Johnson.  Enos finished the contest with 21 points and 12 rebounds while Johnson finished with eight points and 13 rebounds.  Senior Cain Atkinson finished the contest with 14 points and scored his 2,000th career point in the contest.

Black Hills State shot 59% from the floor and 73% from behind the arc in the game.  The Yellow Jackets blocked five Hardrocker shots and out rebounded S.D. School of Mines by 17, 38-21.

The Yellow Jackets will host an NAIA Selection Show watch party at the Young Center in Spearfish on Wednesday, March 2.  The women's selection show will begin at 5 p.m. MT with the men's show following at 6 p.m. MT.  The event is open to the public.  Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
