Rapid City, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's basketball team fell to S.D. School of Mines by a score of 61-52 Tuesday evening at the King Center. The Yellow Jackets trailed throughout the game and were unable to overcome the strong offensive performance from the Hardrockers as they fall to 5-11 on the season.

Black Hills State was unable to get anything going early as Mines jumped out to an early 10-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets weathered the storm as they entered the halftime break trailing the Hardrockers 23-32. The Yellow Jacket women rallied in the second half cutting the lead to just four points with less than ten minutes remaining in the game. However, a few late baskets by the Rockers were enough to pull away in the end.

Black Hills State was led by sophomore Jordan Kent who finished the contest with nine points and four rebounds. The Yellow Jacket rally was led by sophomore Calli Bechtel who contributed off of the bench. Bechtel was one of three Yellow Jackets to net eight points along with senior Bayley Chevron and freshman Dakota Barrie. Freshmen Cassidy Kotelman had a strong outing for Black Hills State. Kotelman finished the contest with seven points and eight rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action Friday January 27 as they return home to host Northern New Mexico at the Donald E. Young Center in Spearfish, tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and can be heard locally on 980 AM or worldwide at KDSJ980.com.
