Spearfish, S.D. - The Yellow Jacket women's basketball team played host to Northern New Mexico at the Donald E. Young Center on Friday night. The Black Hills State women jumped out to a quick start as they rolled past the Eagles by a final score of 83-46.

Black Hills State picked up the convincing and much needed win in front of their home crowd as they were too much for Northern New Mexico to handle. The Yellow Jackets shot the ball 45% from the floor through the game and never looked back from their 51-23 halftime lead.

The Yellow Jackets offensive potency came from several sources as they had five players score in double figures. It was forward Calli Bechtel and guard Chelsey Biegler who shared the title of high scorer in the contest. The dynamic duo combined for 24 total points as they each added 12 for the Black Hills State cause. They were followed in their efforts by Kristi Ryan, Morgan Mines, and Dakota Barrie who each netted 11 points of their own. Freshman starter Cassidy Kotelman also had a standout night on the hardwood as she dropped six points to go alongside a team leading seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

"It was really fun to come out and watch us play united as a team for an entire game," said head coach Mark Nore about the win. "It was great to be back on our home floor and put on a show for our home fans and supporters."

The Black Hills State women will be right back in action on Saturday January 28 as they take on Johnson & Wales. The women's game will begin at 4:00 p.m. MT and will be followed immediately by the men's game at 6:00 p.m. MT.
